We love this hotel because of the people who run it and the classic elegance it radiates being situated in an estate-like park. The service is exactly what you would expect from a first class British hotel - friendly, respectful and always helpful when the need arises. We have travelled to SW England for the past 5 years, and would not think of staying anywhere else. And Nigel Jeffries, the reception manager, makes you feel welcome as soon as you enter the lobby!

Redruth is centrally located. Ideal for the self-driver to reach all points of interest within a short period of time.

Stopped here on the way to the Isles of Scilly, myself and my partner and our two mums. Lovely big rooms, friendly staff and first class service. Had a lovely dinner in the restaurant with very good food. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and all freshly cooked and piping hot. Some of the rooms maybe as other reviews have stated a little tired and in need of refurbishment but are lovely and clean and spacious and the public rooms look great. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay enjoyable. One thing I would say was I got a cheaper rate booking the hotel direct rather than through one of the Hotel booking websites so it is always worth calling the hotel to book.

Room Tip: Book direct with hotel not internet booking sites for a better deal.

We booked a deal for 2 nights b&b plus cream tea and dinner on first evening. My friends from work advised the Hotel that we had just got married on 15/6 and ordered champagne and strawberries as a surprise for us. But the hotel upgraded us to a beautiful garden room and we had a lovely 2 days . Thankyou to the hotel for this , it was really appreciated.

Room Tip: the garden rooms were very quiet and had patio doors onto a private garden area.

We booked a mighty deals 2 night stay for £139 which included breakfast, dinner up to £24.95 each & cream tea for 2.

The hotel is really very nice. It's style is dated but that added to its charm. The lounge, bar & restaurant were very nice.

All of the staff were friendly & professional, especially Mandy on reception who gave us a great service.

The maitre d was also very nice and cracked a few jokes which made us laugh!

We were given a garden suite which was huge with tea, coffee, hot choc and biscuits, & a nice terrace. Huge bathroom!

Breakfast was really good. You can help yourself to toast, pastries, muffins, juices, yogurts, homemade jams, honey, fresh fruit and cereal. The best bit is that you also get to choose a hot freshly cooked to order breakfast from a long menu of lovely choices such as full English, French toast with syrup and crispy bacon ( this was delicious), kippers, omelette, pancakes, eggs benedict etc etc. We never had to wait long and the staff were very nice and polite (Sam was very polite).

The a la carte dinner menu is pretty expensive but they do a set menu for £25 which was lovely. The roast on a Sunday was huge and really tasty, especially the roast ham. Drinks are not too pricey either. I was a little disappointed with the pudding choice but that didn't really matter.

The cream tea was also delicious. 2 scones each (1 raisin, 1 plain), homemade jam made by the owner (the apricot was really good), and clotted cream.

The spa facilities were ok but could be updated a bit. The pool didnt seem overly clean but the jacuzzi was nice and you get towels and robes!

I had a lovely massage from Kylie who was really good and very friendly and helpful.

I can't really fault this hotel. It should be 4* but due to the location it isn't, although its very close to some beautiful places such as perranporth.

I would definitely recommend the mighty deals offer or calling the hotel to see what offers they have directly.

we spent two days at this wonderful hotel and the biggest problem they have is to maintain the very high standard forever.
we where in the garden rooms which gave us access to the decking and the gardens. they were happy to cool a bottle of champagne, which I bought with me, for my wife birthday.
the restuarant was magnificent only equalled by the food itself
this hotel already has many accolades which have been well earned

Room Tip: obtain a garden room

We stayed 2 nights (we were visiting Porthtowan for a family wedding) and wanted a hotel rather than self-catering. Hotel was lovely, traditional, the service could not be faulted, very attentive. It was restful, you could forget the modern world (but the wifi was good too!). Leisure centre was nice. Room was clean, well decorated. The food was really very good - generous portions, fresh fish (just what you would expect in Cornwall). Breakfasts were excellent, plenty of attentive staff. Would recommend, just don't park under the trees....... :-)

Room Tip: Garden rooms were nice; quiet, nice view of small garden towards rear of the hotel. Next time woul...

Have just returned from 2nd visit to this hotel the first was a 2 night break booked via groupon 169 for a 2 night break stayed in a garden suite with direct access to the garden it was great value I then booked a 2 rooms for a 2 night break direct with hotel and arranged for a family birthday meal for 16 people was told there were only garden suites available and the lowest cost was 388 a difference of 219 pounds I thought ok based on the previous stay when arrived given an upstairs room with a tree so close it was the only thing you could see and the other a view of the swimming pool roof when questioned they said they were full but had rooms available next day other guests staying in nicer rooms were booked at discounted prices so checked the internet and mighty deals had the 2 night break available for 139 a whopping 249 pounds cheaper when checking out other people were handing in there vouchers one for 69 pounds I presume that was for 1 night I asked why the large difference as the rooms were not better the receptionist told me the people on the deal don't get the 2 free cocktails that you got (they weren't very good), My partner also enquired whilst there for the price for 1 night mid July for her and 4 friend told it was 199 per night just checked booking.com for the same date and it was half the price. she is so put off by the pricing policy she's decide to book elsewhere
