Not much to see, but a significant historical site. Not easy to find either. A peaceful spot for reflection.

“Interesting piece of history”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

Growing up near Gwennap pit we use to go there in the holidays to see it. The roads are narrow but that is the nature of Cornwall. (also slows down the traffic)
There are lots of lovely volunteers to help tell you about the attraction. You can probably do a visit in an hour and it is nicer on a sunny day but can be viewed in the rain.

“A hole in the ground”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

I wouldn't make a trip only to see that place, but if you in area it's worth visiting, but a bit hard to find, as roads are winding and very narrow and the brown tourist signs appear only when you really got to the place - although post code took me right to their doorway. The Gwennap Pit consists of a Methodists chapel with a terraced whole in the ground which seems to be some sort of mining reminder. And that's it.

“A curiosity, although very difficult to find”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

It was a real struggle to find this place - it is tucked away in a remote part of Redruth with very little signage. When we did find it, we found the visitor centre was closed (on Easter Saturday) which was surprising and disappointing. As a result, we didn't get to learn about the history of the place and John Wesley's association with it. It is a beautiful and peaceful place but not sure it is worth a detour. Curiosity value though.
