Truly a beautiful place to spend a few relaxing days. The garden offers a somptuous view over Talland bay and the surroundings are very calm (you can even see a 12th-century church over to the left). 100% satisfaction on this side of the hotel, even though the varied statues here and there are a bit too much to our taste.
The staff is efficient and agreeable, we were even given a complimentary upgrade. But we certainly didn’t feel the « warmth beyond the smile », as proclaimed by their motto. Business as usual was more adequate to what we felt.
Nevertheless, what you get is certainly up to what you pay (the brasserie menu is quite common, we didn’t try the restaurant)

What a fantastic place! Felt like heaven on earth. Warm welcome, fabulous comfy room, with French doors to patio with stunning sea views. Best food I've eaten beyond overpriced London cuisine. Dogs were treated as valued guests, as was I. Will certainly be going back.

Room Tip: For dog owners, the ground floor rooms are all great but sea views only available from 18, 30 &...

After driving through the little winding lanes to get to The Talland Bay.......what a view. From our room, the gardens and the restaurant/terraces.....stunning. We were in room 27 sea view suite ground floor with French doors and little terrace. Gorgeous, enormous bathroom. Fabulous comfy mattress and beautiful bed linen. Faultless. Lovely welcome from Linda, actually our dog had the best welcome! He was pampered and looked after too. Dinner was good. The only niggles.....wish the wine list was larger and white wine cooler especially in the recent temperatures. Fish & chips nice but the batter was undercooked in places and too greasy with the chips. Much better having the fish on its own. The brasserie seating outside was rather 'miniature' and for two we hardly had any space on the table for a dish each and wine. Menu was good with a nice selection for most. Breakfast was ok too. Scrambled eggs excellent but very small portions. Waking up to the sound of the ocean, horses or lambs was lovely. Would recommend and definitely stay here again.

We spent a few nights here before our wedding in May 2012 and looking back on our journey along the South West Coast Path felt that the Talland Bay was one of our favourite places.

Lunch in the Brasserie was so good that we cancelled our reservation for dinner in the restaurant on the second night and enjoyed some first class Cornish seafood.

Our room was tastefully decorated with real furniture as opposed to the built in wardrobes favoured by some establishments.

When we arrived home after our wedding and honeymoon there was a card from the hotel - I know it does not cost much, but how many hotels would have sent a card to a couple who were unlikely to return given their declared objective of continuing along the Coast Path?

We stayed 3 nights at this lovely hotel which is off a very narrow lane. It has wonderful views of the sea which is what we were after and our room, number 27, the Seaview Suite was on the ground floor and had its own terrace.

The day we arrived the weather was fine but after that it went downhill and unfortunately it rained on both days that we were at the hotel which was a pity as we couldn't enjoy the gardens or walk to the beach.

The room was very comfortable with two great chairs for relaxing and reading and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom as well had everything we needed.

The only problem was that being summer, the heating had been turned off so that even though it was very cold, there wasn't any heat in the bathroom and in the bedroom we had to keep warm with two radiators which wasn't what we expected when paying top dollar for a 4-5 star hotel. We could not understand why the heating wasn't on when the temperatures were quite cold, in fact it was as cold as a normal winter's day here at home.

We had two meals in the Bistro and one meal in the Restaurant. The meals were all good though we felt that the restaurant wasn't quite as good as the prices charged and therefore we preferred the Bistro.

The breakfasts each morning were delicious and set us up for each day of touring.

The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for you. It was a lovely 3 day sojourn in a delightful country hotel.

Room Tip: I think that all of the rooms are good though a seaview room would be preferable.

We spent a 4 night stay in this lovely hotel and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality hotel in a beautiful location by the sea. In fact this is probably the best Cornish hotel my wife and I have stayed.
The hotel has an eclectic mix of furnishings and objects both inside and outside the hotel which seem to work. I also like the fact that the hotel was actively run by the owners who are very hands on so could react to any issue should one arise.
We had a lovely sea facing room (room 9 with a balcony) which I think is essential and ate each night in the fine dining restaurant where the food was excellent (even if the portions were not over generous).
Bearing in mind the high room rate a couple of suggestions to improve things even more would be to put larger tables in the brasserie/ breakfast room and get some draught beer in!
In summary, a lovely hideaway, especially when the sun shines, and we will undoubtedly return.
