Group of 17 of us went 2 years back. Was very cheap so didn't really know what to expect but everyone agreed it was 'absolutely fantastic' (in the voice of Gary Barlow)! Beautiful view in the morning and sunset at night. Rooms were clean and the kitchen was functional plus massive shout out to Phil who was helpful, relaxed and understanding. Would definitely stay again!!

Thank you for your lovely review and remembering us! We made some improvements since your last stay, but the view and the beach is as good as ever! 2 years is a long time without a visit to Cornwall, wouldn't it be nice to celebrate your 3 year reunion up on the cliff top :)

Organised a trip for a group of 16 college friends to Perranporth this summer... throughout it all the guys at the hostel were super enthusiastic, helpful and chilled out about all organising hic-ups. Something about this hostel just makes me feel so at home... The cosy, well stocked and encouragingly 'green' kitchen, the communal room with perfect panorama views and a stack of well thumbed Nat Geo's, the clean and super cute dorm rooms and bathrooms... and oh, the views! Needless to say the beach is close by and utterly gorgeous, but being high up helps you to get away from the mad crowds when you need to. I recommend beach runs at low tide, volley ball when the nets are free, communal cooking, tea gazing out the window if the weather is bad, cliff walks and pasties from the local butchers...
Only bummer is paying for parking, but even that is too cheap to worry about. I want to move in! Or at least visit regularly, in every season. Awesome awesome visit. I can't wait to come back.

Room Tip: There is a bigger dorm room which is great to share if you come as a group or just want to meet other people. It 'looks out' over the ocean which is lovely for the sound of the waves, but also means the window is right by the garden which other people might be using.

Hey Tiki!
Thanks for the fab review, we're looking forward to seeing you all again soon!
The sun's shinning, the surf's pumping and the sea's warming up!
How's the organising of the troops going?! ...I'm sure if you book, the rest will follow:)

Some friends and I stopped here for a couple of nights to ride out a storm during our walk down the coast. The staff were friendly, the kitchens were full of equipment for cooking (for 9 people!), the beds were clean and comfy and there was enough space in the living/eating area for all of us plus a couple of other groups. It overlooks one of the prettiest beaches in the area and is less than a mile from perranporth.

Hello!
Thank you for your lovely review, this is indeed a super duper storm watching spot! The wind is raging as we speak (and the sea is looking MAD!).
Perhaps we'll see you again next season? And maybe there will be less of a storm!
Love from the cliff.

We made a last minute booking with YHA Perranporth as a storm threatened our backpacking trip along the South West Coast Path. Warden was extremely helpful, even booking those he couldn't fit in the hostel into a nearby B&B. We arrived exhausted after squashing 2 days' walking into one and were given a warm welcome by warden and other guests alike. The next day we were allowed to wait out the storm in the hostel's living area all day.

This is a proper no-frills youth hostel up on Droskyn Point about half a mile from the centre of Perranporth. It is a small hostel with 24 beds, self catering kitchen and communal living and dining area packed into an old research base. This was quite cosy when 9 of us descended all at once, but nobody seemed to mind the close quarters as everyone was so friendly. Toilets and showers were plentiful and functional. Drying room served us well and it was nice to restart the walk with dry tents and sleeping bags. Kitchen facilities great and we ate well - although I must apologise to whoever I inadvertantly stole a loaf of bread from; I genuinely thought it was ours! Bedrooms quite small with hard mattresses (personally something I liked) and easy to walk into the wrong one...oops.
Views were fantastic especially watching gannets diving and waves breaking during the storm.

Truly brilliant place, couldn't reccommend it enough to walkers.

Ahoy!

So glad you enjoyed your stay here at Perranporth (although a little while ago now! We've had a busy season and so are now only just getting round to replying to some things, whoops!).
The storms are getting up again, however our drying room continues to do us proud - dry toasty wetsuits for all! Wahoo!

Hope the rest of your walking travels were wondering,

Cheers!

Us lot at YHA Perranporth.

Just come back from a week at Perranporth Youth Hostel with wife and two young boys we had a fantastic time met some really great people and would recommend it to any families who fancy an activity week. The location is fantastic perched overlooking the bay watching the surf and the occasional Dolphin. The Hostel is also on the Coastal path allowing easy access to great walks and views. There are also caves to search and plenty of other stuff to do.

The Hostel is run by a great bloke called Phil and supported by Becks, both are great and will do anything to make the stay enjoyable - they were also very tolerant as at times we had 4 kids running around and making lots of noise!! The facilities are of a good standard and well maintained and very clean.

Anyhow if you want a good Youth Hostel in a great location and don't mind mixing with others this is the place to go.

The Oddie West Yorkshire

Room Tip: The rooms are typical YHA, suggest you book early if you want a family room

Hello!

So glad you had a super duper time, and we hope to see you again – perhaps next year!
It was really great to see the boys running around and having fun with the other kids, always lovely to see lots of socialisation going on (with you adults, too!).
The sea is continuing to be beautiful turquoise, and the sun is still shining…
Thank you for your brightly glowing review,

Bex @ Perranporth 
