“An enthralling day out”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

Lots to do here - a nice shop, pleasant food with lovely home baking in a modern cafe that has large windows overlooking the sea. A new museum, tours and chance to go underground make this a must visit if you are interested in the history of tin mining.

There are good walks from the site around more mining history.

A lot of money is being spent on the site, so a lot more than you might expect. Look out particularly for the drying area on the walk around the buildings - full of atmosphere, as if miners left only yesterday.

“Extremely interesting”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

Been wanting to visit Geevor for ages.

The site is a mine (excuse the pun) of information about the history of mining in Cornwall. It covers early mining right up to present day (and the closing of Geevor as a working mine in 1990).

The most provacative area is the "dry" where the feeling that the miners could walk back in tomorrow and start mining again.

Walking through the old ore processing plant shows how this working mine has decade since it closed. It also shows the vastness of the operation that Geevor saw at it's height of production.

Panning for gold was fun and proved popular with the kids and adults alike.

The underground tour is relatively short but definitely gives you an insight into an early miners life.

The view from the Cafe is probably one of the best available in Cornwall, looking over the site and the cliffs below, it is amazing.

“Interesting insight to Cornish history”

We were walking the coast path and fascinated by the mining heritage that you come across, Geevor and nearby Levant gave us a greater understanding. Admission to Geevor is quite expensive but it does allow for return visits and you get a discount if you are also visiting Levant. Allow plenty of time for your trip, as well as the extensive buildings and museum and a walk in mine tour with a former mine worker there is a great cafe with fab pasties! Geevor is dog and child friendly.

“Wonderful staff and well worth it”
Reviewed May 3, 2013 via mobile

We went to Geever Tin Mine after being to Levant (just down the road) but we fancied actually going in to a mine. The guides who take you down the mine are all former miners and have lots of information and ensure you are all looked after. You get a nice coat to wear as it is very muddy inside the mine but is well worth it. All around the attraction, everything is just set out so well and clear. Informative for the adults and lots of learn for children. As you enter, you have to wear a hard hat around the entire site, you then go round the buildings at your own speed and when you are ready you head for the guided mine tour. Male sure you visit The Dry, wow the building really lets you look into the lives of the miners and the photos on the walls bring so much to life, as you leave there are lots of photos of former miners, we even found our guide's photograph!!

Really well thought out, really looked after and lots if plans for the future, very friendly and helpful staff 5 stars all round.

“briliant day out !”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

Went to visit on a cold rainy day, but even the weather could not dampen this fascintaing place
Everything well laid out ( as it was in 1990 when it closed ) It really gave you the impression of what it must have been like to work there. You really need a day to take it all in, with lunch and coffees to keep you going !
If only there was a guide book to flesh out the excellent explaination boards. The Guide who took us underground had been a miner there so was excellent at giving information and answering questions,
Would throughly recommend this attraction, but maybe not with very young children who might get bored.
