We had to choose between Geevor and Poldark. Locals advised Geevor as Poldark was more touristy than real and educational. We were not disappointed.
We recieved a good welcome and were informed the tours ran hourly on the hour. Plenty to see whilst waiting including the heavy machinery, shower/locker rooms and many other rooms left in the same state as when the mine closed. The tour was extremely educational (I would recommend it to schools). We learnt about the whole refinement process and saw it in action to some degree. The underground part of the tour was an excellent finish.
The tea room is very nice, especially the pasties.
Not recommended for disabled and people with walking difficulties.
