“Super, smashing, great!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2012

We had to choose between Geevor and Poldark. Locals advised Geevor as Poldark was more touristy than real and educational. We were not disappointed.
We recieved a good welcome and were informed the tours ran hourly on the hour. Plenty to see whilst waiting including the heavy machinery, shower/locker rooms and many other rooms left in the same state as when the mine closed. The tour was extremely educational (I would recommend it to schools). We learnt about the whole refinement process and saw it in action to some degree. The underground part of the tour was an excellent finish.
The tea room is very nice, especially the pasties.
Not recommended for disabled and people with walking difficulties.

“Great heritage site”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2012

It was a foggy day so looking for something to do indoors we visited the mine. We spent about an hour looking around the site with its machinery and exhibits before going on the guided tour with Barney. Very interesting tour with the finale going underground down into one of the old workings. Afterwards we had a good lunch in the cafe, naturally a pasty very tasty too. This is very well worth the visit, you could spend three or four hours here easily.

Read up about the Tin mine visit which is just amazing but the cafe here does extremely well too- great smell of pasties as you enter, super coffee and very good cakes. Staff were charming too. A great cafe in a superb place.

“Interesting and moving history”

Great how the human aspects of working in a tin mine are explained / displayed. Also a lot of attention for the down side of the closure (400 hundred persons lost their job).
