Thoroughly enjoyed 2 hours of informative and entertaining experience. So glad that we took the detour down the road, albeit a little narrow, to see this amazing piece of old technology. Thank goodness we didn't live in those times when we might have had to work down the mines. Sixteen hundred feet down and a mile and half out to sea and in temperatures of approximately 30 degrees. Another interesting fact is that there is a small patch of original listed Cornish cobbled road surface on the drive down/up that could easily be missed.

After negotiating very narrow and too long drive from the village of Trewellard you get to the car park surrounded with rather dramatic landscape, which is a mixture of cliffs sharply falling to the Atlantic with remains of multipurpose buildings littering open fields up to the horizon. The main building with the ticket office (National Trust) is right below the car park, from there you can reach the biggest attraction of this place, which is a working steam engine. But it is working only on certain occasions, which are rather rare. Usually you are left to wonder around small industrial site, with amazing ocean views. I agree this place can be really boring for people not interested in Cornwall's industrial past, but you can always skip the ticketed part and just go for a seaside walk.

We visited Levant mine today and it was very interesting but the tour was a little slow. There were two tours per day and I would recommend a tour otherwise you may not know what you are looking at or gain information about what you have come to see. We enjoyed finding out about the mine and how it worked. The tour guide was very knowledgeable but his presentation could have been much better and the tour lasted ages, a little too long especially as it was very cold and blowy. However, I would still recommend a visit as it was very interesting.

Great attraction to visit in lovely location. Even on the cold windy day we were there it proved interesting and worthwhile. Authentic place which had not been tampered with in terms of being made too touristy. Great guided tour included in the price, very knowledgable and enthusiatic guide. Lots to see including working steam engine which I only just managed to drag my partner away from. The walk into one of the mine shafts was very thought provoking. I hope the National Trust leave this place as it is, it doesnt need to be made into a seriotypical attraction.

We stopped off on the path from Land's End to Pendeen and found the site was open for the first Sunday of the year. Wonderfully restored and staffed by real enthusiasts.
