Nice friendly place. Waitress was lovely and friendly.
Food was excellent with a good choice of beer.
Chef came to ask if the meal was okay - must have been very proud of his fish meal for 2 as it looked as good as it tasted.
As we finished the meal a huge thunderstorm started with the lights going out and rain gushing down the road. The chef lived near to where we were staying and bless him offered us a lift home - great chef as well as being a lovely man.

Being a Saturday night it was very busy however this made no difference to the AMAZING quality of the food. In fact every person on the table had different food but each said its the best meal they have had in a long time.
Even though it was the waitresses first day she had a great personality and really made you feel at home. Would go again in a heartbeat

Fortunately booked as despite being a Monday night halfway through September the chef had to turn people away (only after first seating several groups into main part of pub), which speaks for itself. Chef then managed to take orders and cook (all his waiting staff had recently returned to uni etc,) despite the lack of assistance all of our food (and tables within earshot) was perfect. I guess it helps using quality local ingredients, he just has to pop over the road to the award winning butcher for his meat and fish just 10 minutes away. If this was in one of the many Cornish tourist hotspots the prices would far higher but instead it is very reasonable in one of the nicest and mainly unspoilt village in Cornwall.
