The staff were very freindly. The food was wonderful, it came to your table piping hot, plenty of it too, so full up we couldnt try one of the many puddings on the menu. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FANTASTIC PLACE.

“Average food, poor service”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

We had booked a table but were still required to wait until it became available. We let this go, we realise it can be busy at weekends. We ordered our food and it was served reasonably quickly. The food was average, no major complaints but we felt the pricing reflected the pleasant venue more than the actual meals (frozen chips etc).
The service was very poor once we had been seated and had ordered the food. We were never asked if we needed more drinks despite there being several empty glasses, and just as we tried to ask the waitress ran off again (twice!), we were tempted to just visit the bar. We were not asked if our meals were okay (two were lukewarm at best). Our plates were not cleared away for some time. We had to go and ask at the bar for the bill, after sitting waiting for almost half an hour (we had been intending to order dessert, but decided against it given the service). We were told the bill would be brought over. We waited another twenty minutes and eventually calculated our own bill, left the money on the table and left! I don't think we have ever experienced service this rude in a restaurant before, they didn't even appear to be particularly busy (there were two other occupied tables). We would not return.

“Excellent Sunday roast”
Reviewed October 20, 2012 via mobile

Had the sunday carvery and could not find fault. Meat was tender and good selection of vegetables. Staff were very friendly and overall service excellent. Would not hesitate in recommending this restaurant well worth a visit.

“Good food but poor service”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

We walked down to the pub from the Carlyon Bay hotel as we thought we'd give it a go.
They were helpful finding us a table in the lovely Waves area of the pub. We had to wait 15 mins or so befor the order was taken and thank goodness we had olives as our mains were nearly 45 mins coming out. During the wait we had finished our drinks but no one offered us any more. Husband had to get up and go round to the bar to get them.
The waiting really spoilt what should have been a very good meal. And when husband chatted to the waitress she was very dour faced and was not friendly.
