We have just enjoyed "the best" holiday ever at this stunning hotel, where attention to detail and the efficiency and friendliness of the staff are second to none. Our two boys, aged 6 and 8, thoroughly enjoyed the freedom and independence of having adventures exploring the grounds, playing in The Blue Room and going to the cinema in the evening! In turn, my husband and I were able to enjoy some quality time together, knowing our sons were safe and having a great time. From the moment we arrived, without exception every single member of staff was polite, smiley and nothing was too much trouble. It's not a cheap holiday by any means but for a special treat to crate amazing memories oth your family, for us, Polurrian Bay Hotel has been perfect, thank you.

Having visited the hotel for 3 nights last week, we will not be back. Whilst my 10 yr old found it quite child friendly, I and the family who we had also arranged to meet found it very disconcerting that dogs were allowed to roam around the Vista dining area whilst we were eating. The hotel may be dog friendly, but allowing them into the sitting area of the Vista encourages owners to relax, let the dogs go and the dogs wander(still with leads on) in and out of the tables whilst we were finishing dinner-not very hygienic. The bedrooms were good in terms of size, but for £348 a night B&B, the breakfast was slow and tea/coffee took ages. We ate in the Vista for 3 nights -the childrens menu is good in terms of range of dishes, but the main menu is limited and pricey for fish and chips. I also found the new Vista area too Ikea-style for my taste -it felt like sitting in a large playpen with all the wood bars around the dining area.
On arrival, we went for a wander around the grounds which are lovely, but just wanted to sit in the sitting area of the Vista-we felt pounced on twice asking if we wanted drinks when we just wanted to sit for 5 mins- a bar would be a better idea -we felt hassled.

Overall not a good experience.

We drove down from Devon on a glorious sunny day and arrived at the hotel early afternoon. Walked into the reception and there was the fantastic view out to sea through the amazing Vista lounge. The greeting from the staff was very warm and we were shown up to our room which had similar amazing views out to see. That afternoon we walked down to the Polurrian Beach and over towards Poldhu. We returned to the hotel and had a drink on the terrace watching the sunset go down. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent - the fish was fresh and perfectly cooked, desert was very good and Freyja, the restaurant manager was most efficient and knowledgable. The wine list is comprehensive and I recommend the Portugese ones. Adrian Jones the Head Chef has prepared a very good menu and the lobster on our second night was just fantastic.
Everything about the Polurrian is good, the staff are welcoming and helpful, the new Vista Lounge has been built to take advantage of the view, opening out onto the terrace from where you can enjoy lunches and of course amazing sunsets. The refurbishment has included new bathrooms and the beds are SO comfortable! One of the highlights are the walks around the cliffs and we borrowed Peter Holgate (the GMs) Golden Retriever called Bailey and took him for a walk. He was loaned to us beautifully groomed, we hadn't walked very far and he had gone in a stream, further on and he had rolled in cowpats and then we had to catch the bus back from the Lizard with a very smelly dog. A hose, some Elemis and he looked better.
I cannot recommend this hotel more - the facilities for children are excellent and very comprehensive. Go to this hotel and have a great time - look Bailey up!!!!

This is my second visit and I can't get enough of this Hotel and location. My children love the Den and the Cinema will my wife and I can truly relax knowing they are happy. The addition of the new lounge is amazing with an all day menu that caters for most of our needs. The Restaurant menu is small but really nice as everything is so fresh. My only negative is that the large lounge area is crying out for a bar as it needs a focal point. The staff are really friendly Peter the Manager, Paula on reception and the girls are genuinely interested in how your stay is going and this does make a difference. Birthday cake and card on my daughters big day was such a lovely touch and a wonderful surprise. See you again soon I hope. Keep up the good work.

Room Tip: Book a sea view room its a must!

My husband and I have just returned from a stay with our 2 sons, age 5 &7. All 4 of us had a wonderful time and we are already looking to rebook for next summer.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were wonderful and this continued all week. We didn't come across any staff who were less than excellent.

My children simply adored the freedom that they had, while my husband and I were comfortable that the hotel is small enough (& the reception is so well placed in the building) that we knew they were safe.
The staff in the Kids Den were brilliant, so enthusiastic and my children really enjoyed their time there.
We stayed in a Superior Sea View room (well worth the extra £) on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. The food was exceptional each night.

The fitness club have body boards which you can borrow for an afternoon and take down the the cove or to Poldhu - I really recommend this, excellent fun.

Thank you all at Polurrian!

just thought i would write a quick review from a 'non-resident' point of view.
just came back from a 2 week holiday at mullion, we stayed in a cornish cottage a stones throw away from the polurrian bay hotel, so decided one night, to have a drink and watch the sunset.

it is a fabulous setting and invariably, the one drink turned to 2 with snacks followed by coffee, we visited a few nights and although we never had a bad experience as such, it really did depend what staff were on.

we spoke to maybe 4 or 5 staff and all of them were very new, one had been there only 3 weeks, another only 1, so what you ended up with varied
for instance, the first time i had a pot of tea, it was with leaf tea, this was just heavenly, the next time it was a teabag, i spoke to the girl who had first served me and she said that teabags are only used at breakfast and at all other times, it should be leaf tea, however, she had only been told that herself after about 3 or 4 days there, so could only assume that the new girl (1 week) hadn't been told.

the biscuits with the latte's were just delicious and the food we tried was lovely, i had the crab linguine, just the small portion, which was quite expensive, but wonderful,

so to sum up, if you are served with something that you are not happy with, then tell them, give them a chance to rectify the problem, next time i visit, which i definitely will, i will make sure it's leaf tea and if you find yourself waiting too long, just go see the person on reception who will hurry them up for you (i did this once when noone came out to us on the terrace) but the position for watching a sunset is unequalled, so give it a go

hope this helps

What a wonderful hotel to stay in, all the staff are friendly and all love children, the facilities are excellent and the views from the sea view rooms are majestic! An excellent family location that you will feel thoroughly relaxed in even when taking then kids away.

The Den (childrens activity centre) has some of the best and most enthusiastic staff, my cfhildren cam out of there everyday asking to go back the next day. Their smiles were from ear to ear and the staff were so welcoming and accomodating.

The food is excellent, all locally sourced products that really give you the cornwall experience.

Overal, a quality get away that will cater for the whole family!

Room Tip: Book a sea view room, maybe a little more expensive but well worth the view and to see the sunset ev...
