We made a return visit to this guest house because we remembered how lovely it was. Roy and Sarah are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are well appointed with glorious views and the food, delicious. We shall stay again.

I can not believe the last review. They seemed to be reviewing somewhere else.

We have been twice and I have been very pleased with the room with a double bed which has a great view of the cove. We have been twice, ten odd years apart and both times we have been very impressed to our hosts attention to detail and overall hospitality. The three breakfasts we had in 2013, like last time, were fantastic!

Roy and Sarah run an excellent guest house which represents very good value for money compared to other guest houses or hotels we have stayed at.

Like most we booked this place on all the good reviews but we're left bitterly disappointed for the following reasons.

- we paid for the top priced "double" room but had a cramped twin with the beds just pushed together. Fine for a hostel, not for £110 per night.

- reception was so cold and unwelcoming, as if we were intruding and not guests at all.

- the room is really uncomfortable, cramped and you can hear everyone in every room around you all night, including the floor above you.

- on our last morning at 9am we were unceremoniously kicked out saying "we need you to leave early because we have other guests arriving early". No please, apology or thank you. Just an invoice.

All in all, not worth the price by a long way. We stayed in three more places in Cornwall for much less and with far better/friendlier service.

Not sure where this review has come from after 4 months. This young couple booked thinking it was £55.00 per room per night (when it was clearly stated that it was £55.00 per person per night - high season) and seemed very happy until they found this out on departure. We have never asked anyone to leave early or been impolite and posted on lost property for them at our cost. Really at a loss to know where this review has come from.

We made our booking based solely on reviews on Tripadvisor. What we should have done was to see if those reviewers had done more than one hotel/guest house review. Lets put the positive first - it was clean apart from the odd cobweb. Now to the negatives. Unfortunately we found our room to be quite cramped and nowhere to go if it was raining. We were woken several times by people using the toilet in the room next to ours. While this guest house is in Portmellon bare in mind that Portmellon is on the outskirts of Mevagissey so if you wish to go to a restaurant or bar and not drive it is a fair walk there and back. We stayed in the off-season but were charged high-season rates - an explanation was requested several weeks ago but to date no reply. The breakfasts were reasonable but nothing better than average. Unfortunately I can't say that about the friendliness of our host. We have stayed in B & B's and guest houses throughout England, Ireland, Madagascar, Italy, Peru, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Island and this one we found to the least friendliest. Do your home-work. There are better places at better value-for-money in Mevagissey.

We are sorry that ‘Trasak’ and ‘Busylizy’ (same couple/same visit) did not enjoy their stay with us. It is also regrettable that they did not share these concerns with us during their visit.

Our high season runs from May to October and as this couple stayed with us from 1st – 5th October they were charged accordingly. Late availability deals are sometimes offered to fill in gaps nearer the time but these were obviously not available when these guests booked in March.

Please do not see this review as a true reflection of us or our business. We are a five star, gold and breakfast award winning establishment and winners of Tripadvisor’s Certificate of Excellence for 2012 and 2013. We have been running our guest house for over ten years and have welcomed over three thousand guests many of whom return regularly and recommend us unreservedly for our hospitality, friendliness, cleanliness and peaceful location.

Our stay in Portmellon Cove Guest House was just perfect. For people who like to have breakfast this place gives you a good starter with many different options to choose from. The room was comfortable and clean, maybe a bit small, but we didn't want to spend a lot of time indoors. Nice bathroom and perfect service. A bit expensive but it was sort of luxury.

What a delightful place to stay for a relaxing mini break, we enjoyed every minute. We had the Eden Room which was very spacious with a great view over the gardens and Port Mellon cove.
The room was spotlessly clean, the bathroom was superby furnished with a walk in shower, double bath and heated floor, even 'TED' on the bed was a nice touch, which we must say was extremely comfortable. There is fitted wardrobes, slippers, dressing gowns which are all of top quality, a mini bar, TV. and tea, coffee, everything you require for a relaxing stay.
The breakfast was fabulous, plenty of variety and the cooked breakfast was first class, we
coud not have had better anywhere else.
Roy and Sarah are a lovely couple and made us feel very welcome, we will certainly return to this Guest House when we visit Cornwall again.
Thankyou once again for a very enjoyable visit, Roy and Sarah.

Room Tip: The Eden Room is spacious, furnished to a very high standard and has superb views of the gardens and...
