“Half term at The Park”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

Just returned from a week at The Park at Mawgan Porth and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this amazing place. We had a 2 bedroomed small cottage which was well equipped, clean and comfortable - the perfect home from home.

The on site facilities - indoor / outdoor pools / restaurant are all first class. Everyone is friendly and helpful.

The locations is great - a short walk to the beach and good for exploring Padstow and St Ives.

We'd love to come back in August but it's already fully booked - I'm not surprised, it's a really great place to stay.

Stayed here for a weekend in one of the Superior Terraces for a friend's daughter's Christening. Hired 2 of the 2 bedroom superior terraces and found them perfect for our stay. The Park now has a really good indoor pool complex as well (so there's something for the kids when the British summer isn't as summery as it should be!).
Food in the cafe/restaurant was excellent and everyone is really friendly.
Seems a much better bet to me than some of the over-priced B&B's in town and it's a very short walk to the beach.

Like most parents we don't get out on our own enough.

Like most SEN parents we really need to make sure we try to get out on our own more.

Recently it was our 10th wedding anniversary, tin apparently, and we decided that we knew our friend and babysitter well enough to let her stay over with the children, puppy and chickens for a night while we went a few miles down the road for a night away.
I'm terrible at leaving the children, a natural born worrier, but I knew we had to do it.

Bob surprised me with a night of glamping in a very cosy, beautifully furnished and quirkily romantic luxurious yurt, complete with woodburning stove, outside jacuzzi, gypsy caravan shower, views to die for, champagne, lobster and fries, pre-ordered in the relaxed atmosphere of the shabby chic restaurant.

We know The Park well and often eat and swim there with our girls, who are always welcome and enjoy the freshly made, proper kids food whilst playing with the toys in the toy box.

I'll let the photos speak for themselves. Needless to say we had a wonderful time and really connected, chatted and remembered who we were. We all need to make room for the 3 parts of ourselves: an individual, a friends and partner and a parent and that applies whether our children have a disability or not.

Stayed here for a couple of nights in one of the 'Superior Terrace' properties and we were all really impressed. Making the booking was easy, a lady called Carolyn couldn't have been more helpful and a nice touch was to email a load of attachments for things to do in the area, not to mention a list of film locations in the area.

The accommodation was clean, well maintained, quiet with easy parking. A quick tip, if you stay at Koweth, don't park under the tree next to it as your car will be covered in bird muck !

The pool area is 5* and includes a steam room and sauna. They have a great spinning device for drying out swimming costumes in about 20 seconds that we found very useful.

Eating there was great, the home made bread was delicious and they have a good well priced menu including options for children at around £4.

The only thing I'd change is that you are limited to 30 mins of free wifi per 12 hours. As there is no phone signal I would offer if for free a put a couple of pounds on the accommodation price to cover it. The beds were also a bit on the short and hard side, but that may just be a personal preference thing...

I'd have no hesitation in recommending The Park for families or couples.

Our third visit to the park at Mawgan Porth, we are in love with this place. Unbelievably clean, very friendly staff and lots for the kids to do. We have stayed twice in morlader and once in moroven, both are well furnished and well equipped to a high standard. Food all day long at he cafe is simply amazing. A very special place and can't wait to come back again. Fab beaches all around here with Mawgan Porth beach 5 mins walk away, hafryn beach 10 mins and countless others only a short drive away. Love it, love it, love it

We have just returned from our second trip to The Park and can't recommend it highly enough. As we have a dog we stayed in one of the older bungalow type 'chalets' but this was very good indeed - immaculately clean, great facilities and good views. It was also south facing and was flooded with natural light and made it very warm even in a freezing February week.

The indoor pool here is superb and the recent changes to separate out the entrance from the cafe have made a real difference.

A big highlight is the cafe / restaurant which is simply superb - 'Babs' is simply the best host you could want. Organic veg is locally sourced and freshly cooked. Home baked bread is excellent. Very accommodating for varied tastes and diets. Great laid back feel to the place.

Only a few minutes walk from the beach and convenience shop. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

We returned from a week's stay at The Park yesterday. The photos on the website looked fantastic and when we arrived at our six-bed lodge, Koes, we were not disappointed! In fact, it was everything we had wished for and more! So spacious (even with 8 of us staying overnight & 10 in the evenings) and very nicely decorated with shabby chic decor and original artworks as opposed to prints. The kitchen was greatly equipt - knives excellent and there was more than enough crockery. The house was amazingly well-insulated - even with all the thermostats turned down the house was very warm (take note: even in Winter summer nightclothes are probably all that's required). The beds were very comfy and storage space plentiful. The views from the balcon are of lovely rolling hills and the place has a very relaxed, chillled feel about it. On the complex the bistro/bar sold really tasty food and the pool/sauna was very clean and well-maintained. Further afield there isn't a great deal to do in Mawgan Porth but I highly recommend Fire bar for it's very friendly service and great food! Also, it's proximity to places like St Merryn (for the excellent Cornish Arms) and Padstow (for the Camel Trail & Rick Stein stuff) is great. I am already wanting to plan my next trip here and would perhaps like to try it in summer. However, I wouldn't want to share it with too many other people. To be balanced, I have tried to find some areas of improvement. While there aren't many, more attention could have been paid to cleaning under the beds before our arrival (it was a bit dusty) and, perhaps, the pool/bar area could be open a bit longer at this time of year. Overall, though, I really enjoyed it and would thoroughly recommend it.
