“Ideal hotel for a short stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013

We stayed for 2 nights and found the hotel good for our break. We ate in one night and although not many people around the food was done well and service was good. 2nd night we went out and other places in walking distance provided some alternatives. Room was upgraded and was clean and sizeable. Breakfast the first morning was great and ordered individually. The second morning breakfast was more a buffet and unfortunately a lot of items ran out at the same time so we had to wait a while for fresh food.

Pleasant staff. Pleasant public area at the front. Room OK without being particularly welcoming. Poor electric weedy shower over a thin plastic bath. Bar didn't have ANY draft beers, only bottled.
I didn't eat in the restaurant as my business colleague (who is by no means a gourmet by any stretch of the imagination) tells me that the food is poor (go eat at the Globe or Royal Oak just down the road for good food).
No phone signal but reasonable wifi coverage throughout.

Wanted a base in this Area for the second part of our Cornwall Holiday in order to visit the Eden Project and The Lost gardens.Researched a number of Hotels and most indicated this Hotel was tops for customer service. That was spot on-staff couldnt have been more helpful and accomodating.Didnt use the Outdoor Swimming Pool but drinks on the decking overlooking the church and fields was relaxing.
Only slight moan was the Room which was not in the Main part of the Hotel but in a small seperate block and was musty and appeared a bit damp.
Food in the Restarant was good but didnt use fresh fruit for breakfast which let it down a bit.
Would totally recommend this Hotel if looking in the Area as Staff will do anything to make Your stay comfortable-however go for a room in the Main building.

Room Tip: Go for Rooms in Main block not the Annexe

We have just stayed 2 nights at this Hotel. This was our 2nd visit as we stayed here last year in November. The Hotel is undergoing refurbishment of the rooms to a high standard. We were very impressed with our room on the first evening, but later we realised that the heater in the bathroom did not work. When we informed the staff the next day they immediately arranged for us to move to another room which had also been recently refurbished. This was a fantastic Executive room and was really warm and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant on one evening and had breakfast both mornings. The restaurant staff were very helpful and pleasant. Overall the staff can not do enough to be helpful which is excellent and we will be back again as Lostwithiel is in a good position for either the West or South of Cornwall.

Room Tip: If you have problems with mobility the ground floor rooms are easily accessed.

Lovely room, excellent bathroom, best shower ever! Pleasant staff. Evening meal was a bit hit and miss, salmon main course was very good but mixed grill was dreadful. Altogether very good value for money, will definitely be staying again

We stayed at the hotel during for a weekend break. The room was very cosy, very clean and with a comfortable bed! All of the staff are really friendly and could not be more helpful. As weather was bad , we did not venture out in the evenings so we dined in the hotel restaurant . The food was very good and well presented. The food prices were reasonable.
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants an ideal base for a trip to Cornwall.

This hotel offers clean and pleasant rooms and good service and is in a very convenient location for the Eden Project. Lostwithiel is such an historic and interesting town, however, it is a pity that this hotel does not reflect more of that local charm. The breakfast menu could do with an overhaul. The bathrooms are excellent.
