We dined in almost every restaurant while we were in Lostwithiel and i have to be honest and say i dont think Asquiths is the best in the town. The starter i had (pate) was so salty it was hard to eat, and the main course of venison was good but nothing special, which goes for the dessert too. The main problem i had though was that the place just seemed to be trying too hard. There were 2 waitresses serving 5 tables, this is fine for a normal restaurant but not good enough for the kind of service you expect of fine dining. The food sounded spectacular on the menu but just didnt live up to expectations, and it felt like i was sat in someones living room. I wouldnt go back again.

The ambience, food, service - all were perfect. We highly recommend this restaurant. My gluten intolerance caused them no problems. An excellent evening out.

My partner and I visited Asquiths recently on our trip to Lostwithiel because of all the good reviews on TripAdvisor. As my partner is a chef when we eat out we like to really enjoy our meal. Asquiths did not disappoint it was a complete fine dining experience. We were greeted by name on entering the restaurant, offered a choice of tables, we chose one near to the fire due to it being a very cold February night. The whole experience was exceptional from the home made bread , which was replenished without having too ask all through our meal, the mackerel and venison scotch egg to start. We both had the slow cooked veal main course which was perfect.

Dined on a Saturday evening recently. The restaurant was about a quarter full - but this was early february. However - ambience was still nice. The menu was quite small - about 4 options for starter/main/dessert, but personally we like that as it means the chef can concentrate on doing everything well. The food was cooked and presented excellently. Would recommend the veal main course and my partner had the fish starter and main which he loved also. We asked how often they change the menu and were told very 3-4 months. Would hope it would vary quite significantly so that a return trip had completely different options. Alternatively they should offer a "special" for variety.

Recent visit for evening meal. All courses were delicious and different from "usual" fare offered. Staff pleasant and helpful.
