“Kings Arms friendly place to stay”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

What a lovely couple Mike and his wife are, nothing was too much trouble for them. Went for a long weekend over the bank holiday and they made us very welcome. Rooms were clean and fresh, towels were changed daily and the bed made. Access to the rooms was through the bar and up the stairs. Breakfast was cereal and a choice of full english or something on toast, tea/coffee. Would recommend.

Wei booked into the Kings Arms on the second night of our cycle trip and were pleased to find a warm, friendly welcome from Mick and his wife, our lovely hosts.

The pub has a safe place to store bicycles and gear so no need to worry about them. Mick even found us some spray oil for a running repair which underlines the helpful and friendly service we got throughout our stay.

Our rooms were upstairs over the pub and a bonus was we could not hear anything from the bars downstairs. Room access is through the bar and up the stairs. We had a shower in each room and the family room had a double and two single beds. It also had the biggest flat screen telly in the world which was great.

Mick is amazing and helped us with our route planning for the next day by telling us where was best to cycle, which dogs to avoid and whatr fields to walk through with our bikes to avoid the bulls! Very useful stuff for us cyclists.

Our hosts reccomended a great choice for our evening meal and

Room Tip: Go for the family room, just for the biggest telly in the world.

lovely people charming atmosphere, the kings arms is one of those gems that you don’t really want anyone else to no about, and keep it for your best friends and family....but I feel its so good that I must share .its in a quaint little town with 4 other pubs and a babbling brook running through the centre., and is only 4 miles from the coast and the NO.1 tourist attraction in Cornwall ...the Eden project which is fascinating. The accommodation is en suite bedrooms with a contemporary style. and very clean .the breakfast starts with cereals followed by is full English with toast and tea or coffee which was lovely and sets you up for the day .....

Room Tip: any room was good

Absolutely excellent stay, hosts are so welcoming.
Accomodated my special dietary needs for breakfast.
Excellent cornwall knowledge, nothing is too much for them to do.
Definately recommend to all.

Room Tip: None to add, not even any noise from the bar.

Hotels and B&Bs tend to be very expensive in Cornwall, especially in high season. Kings Arms in Lostwithiel is a great budget option.

Good points:
- Very reasonable price
- Clean and comfortable room
- Good breakfast
- Free internet access
- Central location close to restaurants
- Owners are charming and very helpful to guide you in your tour of Cornwall

Downsides:
- Noisy due to single glazing window
- No parking

We stayed at the kings arms because we were there for a birthday party, the location is excellent for sight seeing, the hosts are very friendly and helpful with information on where to go and know there stuff.
The room was ok but a little small for us, we had a double room with a put up bed as there was 3 of us and it felt a little cramped, we managed but if i had booked myself i would have gone for something a bit bigger, but it was cheap and the breakfast was amazing.
The road noise was pretty loud and the seagulls and when the pub kicked out but i guess you get use to it after a while, there is no car park with this b&b, you have to park round the corner at the community centre, we drove round for atleast 10 mins trying to find somewhere to park, you are extremely lucky if you can get on the street.
he locals are friendly and made us feel welcome.

Room Tip: Ask for a family room to give you a bit more space.

Just passing on our thoughts. We stayed in a cottage in Lostwithiel and tried various hostelries. After being in this one we more or less made it our 'local'. The managers were very friendly, the local drinkers were friendly and brought us into their conversations. There is a good variation of beers/ciders etc. You are actually encouraged to eat your own food in the bar! All in all, would definitely suggest use as a local watering hole.
