Very pleased we booked here whilst we were in Liskeard for our son's wedding.

Excellent room with lovely bathroom and views.
Attentive owners
Excellent choice at breakfast and a fine cooked range.
Very fortunate that Patrick [owner]offered to cook dinner for the wedding party and it was an excellent meal with one of the best roast belly porks I have ever had. The rest of the party were also full of praise for their dishes.

I cannot not think of one caveat,

Just returned from our daughters wedding and stayed at the Pencubitt. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel as the location, facilities, staff and food were excellent. The rooms are very large, and the hotel is well furnished, histirical with excellent views across the countryside.

We had the wedding supper at the hotel and the food and service excelled our expectaions, congratulations to Patrick the chef and hotel owner. He even let me use his kitchen to make sandwiches as we forgot to order gluten free sandwhiches for the weddng buffet at Carnglaze caverns.

Pat also arranged for a local man to bring his eagle owl for us to see, it was amazing to see such a beautiful bird up close.

If you are looking for a first class hotel you will be well satisfied with this hidden treasure

Room Tip: All rooms have excellent views

Thank you very much for your kind review. We very much enjoyed having you all here over the weekend and are really pleased that you enjoyed your time here. Having Andy come up with 'Tilly' was an added bonus. We wish both Will and Kerry every happiness for the future and hope that next time any of you are in this part of Cornwall that you'll come and stay again.

All the best
Pat & Julie

ps. plenty of warning please...I'll need to stock up on 'Tribute & Rosso'

Although other reviews of Pencubitt seem positive our experience staying for one night was very disappointing.
When we arrived the owner rushed us up to our room without the welcoming chat that usually accompanies an arrival.
The room was nicely furnished and an excellent size with separate bath and shower in the en suite and a small dressing room.
After finding that Liskeard itself offers nothing at all in the way of restaurants we ate out in the town of Looe that night. Returning at around 10.30 we found all of the very small car park full and were uncomfortable about just blocking someone in so we parked at the front of the house lengthways so people had plenty of room to drive past.
The next morning when we went down for breakfast the owner rudely said "Is that your car parked there across 3 spaces". He then suggested that we should have simply blocked someone in and presumably we would have been woken up early to move the car for a guest wishing to leave earlier than us!
The breakfast was very good but that and the nice room doesn't make up for rude owners, people in front of house roles really need to be polite!

We finally arrived on Sunday evening, with a failed satnav we only made it due to Pat's kind and patient directions over the phone. After a warm and friendly welcome, we freshened up for dinner. 4 courses later (heavenly by the way) we retired to our serene, tastefully decorated, luxurious room with a balcony overlooking rolling hills as our view. Breakfast the next day was again delicious, with hot and cold options available. I wish we could have stayed longer, we had a wonderful time and will remember it always. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

Having arrived late, we were welcomed warmly by our host who greeted us warmly and showed us to our excellent rooms. After a comfortable and quiet nights sleep we enjoyed the grounds, airy and light sitting room and excellent full breakfast. Our hosts were attentive and gratious. Abosolutely nothing to complain about!

Julie and Patrick are fantastic hosts and give you a very warm welcome when you arrive and are always available if there is anything one requires.
This is more up to a five star hotel standard, the approach to the house is amazing as is the interior. The lounge and bar area are fantastic and available all day. The bedrooms have been most tastefully decorated with every thing one could wish for a very relaxing break..
The breakfast choices are more than we expected and they are all freshly cooked by Patrick the co owner who also spends time chatting and ensuring every thing is satisfactory and if there is anything else you need. All the produce etc are locally sourced.
Most important of all is its location in Liskeard not far from the railway station and in a very quiet area and grounds, making for a very relaxing break and at this time of the year watching the house martins flying around an added bonus.
We really can't recommend this place highly enough it is simply a credit to its present owners and they deserve to be successful.
Its a little gem one would not expect to find in sleepy Liskeard but miss at your loss.

Room Tip: Room 3 is the one we had and it has a balcony so you can watch the sun set and the birds flying.
