After Liskeard - a rundown place if ever there was one - Pencubitt is such a great find. Only stayed one night but it's a lovely country house with fabulous gardens and newish owners obviously keen to make a great impression. Superb breakfast, superb room. Spot on! If you want to be within 15 minutes of the coast and avoid the hordes then this is for you. Also it's only a few minutes walk to the train station. We were upgraded to a king room rather than a double but we are pretty sure a double would be just as good. An historic country house with a hint of grandeur but a bowlful of good service and breakfast!

Spent a night here early October on business, it was wet and dark and stormy, but I could see the potential of this place for a lovely quiet weekend away. Old school decor and none the worse for it, lovely owner/manger great breakfast. I am assuming it will get better still as its early days for the new owners. Top tip on local eating is don't turn up in Liskeard and expect to stumble upon a gem, do some research and get a taxi. Ask the owner.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the open fields have a great view

If you are considering a break in the south west, Pencubitt Country Guest House IS A MUST.

It's ideally located, oh so comfortable, and a happy place to be.

Patrick and Julie are warm, welcoming, and generous hosts, and couldn't do more to make our visit memorable.

Food: excellent.

Staff: friendly, cheerful and helpful.

Can't wait to come back.

We only stayed here for one night but more would have been lovely.
The views from the lounge and our bedroom were fantastic.
A 15 min walk into town. Perfect for our stay.
Very welcoming. Beautiful setting and Fabulous Eggs Benedict for breakfast.

Definitely worth another visit.
Thank you

We stayed here for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Pat and Julie were brilliant hosts and I'd highly recommend taking advantage of their local knowledge for places to visit or restaurants to eat. The hotel is set on beautiful grounds and the rooms are well furnished and comfortable. With easy reach by car of plenty of local attractions too. Looe is a lovely seaside town to visit too.

From the moment we stepped through the front door we felt at home, Pat and Julie were so welcoming and that continued throughout our three day stay. The hotel is very comfortable and has an elegance of its own. The news that Pat had started to serve dinner was the icing on the cake and we took full advantage of his superb cooking and wine. We wish them both every success in their new adventure and hopefully it will not be our only visit
