“Unexpected tour”

RNAS Culdrose Airfield Viewing Area
Reviewed August 13, 2012

We was very lucky as they had some mix up over the coaches thought it was going to be a mini bus for the tour when in fact it turned out to be a coach so the lady in the shop asked if anybody would like to join the tour which we did.
Its £28.00 for a family for a tour which lasts just short of 2 hours and it was well worth every penny.
The coach stopped outside where they were training the new recruits to put out a fire on a helicopter then recover a body then we stopped at the fire station which all boys on the tour loved and they let the kids do some hands on stuff as well.
We also got to look in the engineering shed, watch various aircraft landing and taking off and went to look at the falcons at the end.
The tour was very informative and the lady from the shop was lovely, a good way to spend an afternoon.

Thank amanda h

We visited when you could still get on a bus tour of the airbase. But found out that you had to book in advance. So tried booking following year to find they'd stopped doing them. Kids very unhappy as it was them who wanted to look at aircraft etc... There is a small cafe and gift shop with viewing area if you're lucky enough to see anything take-off or land. Good place to have a short visit, shame about the tours though.

As you are in the area go have a look. On a bad day it is like watching grass grow but on a good one it is fascinating stuff.
Try Air show day for a good time even in the rain.

The air day at Culdrose was a fantastic day out the weather was scorching hot. There were lots of things to do and see and the airshows were fantastic if you like that sort of thing. Will definetly go again if we get the chance.
