Ended up here today by chance rather than choice. Really didnt want to go in, as it looked proper dodgy from the outside! But we were in a real rush to get somewhere, and needed to eat quickly. The lady was lovely, and great with the kids, the menu was a lovely twist on some basics. It was all freshly cooked, and of very good quality - no generic burgers here. Portions were large, and the food was absolutely delicious. I would certainly recommend this pub to anyone in the area :)

The girls and guys cannot be nicer. They looked after my kids, without asking, giving them and their mates a little table to play at, and provided a jug of squash on the house!! Very busy place but they cope, the menu is a bit basic, but well cooked with good portions. I went there several times whilst camping at one of the sites in the village, and had a different beer every time! The choice is great.
Will I go again? of course i blooming will!!

True you have to book in the evening at this time of year and you cannot just drop in, which would be more in line with the ethos of a pub, but it is so worth the effort. The three of us went for dinner and a chance to catch up on news. It was crowded but everything ran smoothly and the food from the varied menu was excellent for 'pub grub'. The beer choice was really good with the two pints I had being well kept. There was a group of four following us on our table. We were informed but in no way felt pressured.

We were a bit unimpressed when we got to this pub for lunch, which we sought out based on it's Good Beer Guide entry. Spartan interior, odd exterior. As is often the way with GBG pubs, something special emerges as you drink your first pint. The barman was attentive and very friendly without being intrusive. The ambience also shifted as more punters arrived. There came a warmth from the walls that can only come when locals and visitors alike are feeling relaxed and at home. I struggled a bit with the menu to find something I liked, but ended up with the most delicious steak ciabatta imaginable. Thanks for a truly memorable lunch.

Called in this afternoon for a quick drink after a walk. First impressions very good but that was before we ordered drinks! Had a simple order lager, 2 cokes and cappuccino which sounded straightforward there being a coffee machine on the bar. On ordering the cappuccino the bar man (dark haired with beard) said for f*** sake under his breath. If they don't want tourist trade they should put a sign up. Won't be returning anytime soon.
