This was a lovely place to eat with a large car park and lovely views of the estuary. The place , service and food were all really good . Prices were average for the area but the restaurant decor was really nice . Staff were very attentive .top marks .

“Good meal - A little pricey.”
Reviewed August 21, 2014 via mobile

We visited the pub midweek and quickly got a table. The restaurant was very busy and we were seated in the upstairs area. This area didn't have a particularly cosy feel and I felt it was a "summer" add-on room.
Despite being told the food would be 40 minutes it arrived in under 30 minutes. The food was good quality, hot and portions were fair size. I did think for what was essentially pub the prices were rather high (average main £10.95). Child's meals were also rather pricey.
Overall a pleasant experience if I left feeling a little lighter in the pocket.

“Average”
Reviewed August 19, 2014

We have visited the old quay many times over the years and always had a good meal, recently while holidaying in Cornwall we were staying nearby and ate her on 3 occasions

the first 2 times we ate here were very good and the staff friendly, polite and the food very good.

On the 3rd occasion my partner ordered steak it was cooked as requested but she forgot to add a sauce to it, she asked for bbq and a small pot was delivered to the table she poured the sauce on to find it wasn't bbq at all and ruined her meal as she didn't like the sauce
the staff were quite adamant it was bbq,my self i have never seen or tasted bbq sauce like that.

a few minutes passed and a bill for £2.50 was placed on the table and we were told to pay for the sauce yes it says on the menu its £2.50 but this is a rip off for what you get, my partner was most upset as her meal was ruined
the £2.50 was taken off the bill after we spoke to a manager but not before he quite loudly moaned about us to a girl behind the desk.

We then found all the staff who had been very friendly now were keeping there distance and never said good night they watched us leave and never said a word.

having been good returning customers for many years we feel very disappointed by this we have gave it average as the first 2 meals were very good but this has made us rethink ever returning here.

“FABULOUS RESTAURANT”
Reviewed August 18, 2014

We had a table for six on Sunday 17 august 2014 and had a fabulous meal and service at the the old quay house in Hayle Cornwall, the food & drinks for my 2 children (6&10) myself & my wife and nanny & bamps was outstanding large portions, tasty, filling and great price.
So we went back on Monday evening for another round.
The kids were playing in a fab enclosed beer garden which is situated on the estuary and has a very safe and well maintained play area.
Thank you very much for your hospitality Margaret & team.
