So what do you want from your accommodation when on holiday? A lovely and well furnished room? A large bathroom ? A mesmerising garden ? Charming and personable hosts with ample local knowledge? Great breakfasts freshly prepared and served in a lovely breakfast rooom? A fabulously decorated house with sumptuous furniture and beautiful artwork in every room? Oh, and a lovely garden to sit in ? Shall I go on??? It's all here and we had the most fabulous and relaxing weeks stay at the end of May. The week was perfectly warm and sunny too which just made the views even more spectacular and the house even more beautiful.
We stayed in the Garden room. . You just need to know it's very well furnished in beautiful cool and calming colours. And don’t' forget to check out the artwork. Fabulous paintings…
A continental style breakfast is made fresh every day and laid out for our arrival with the other guests. Peter and Marian follows this up with a cooked breakfast option made to your own order. Nothing was too much trouble. Typically being me I had the full English every day (well, I am on holiday) and it was cooked it to perfection every time, along with the homemade bread (toasted), and a bottle of Ketchup in place on the table. Great food and a friendly service Marian and Peter, thank you !
The garden is well appointed with comfy seating and just 5 minutes from the sea. You can walk as far as your legs will take you and you'll find some stunning views, beaches and fishing villages if you're really keen. Don't forget the camera and binoculars as the views and wildlife are incredible. For us though it was more of a restful holiday, time to kickback and stop. To that end we only attempted limited walks. On one day we went over to a quiet cliff top area for a day long picnic and watched the birds and seals. The Cloughs are rare birds out here but we were so secluded we had two stroll up the grass toward us without a care in the world! We also climbed down to a very secluded sandy beach accessible during low tide for 4-6 hours a day. This is a gem and really close to the cottage. So close in fact we sat late into the evening on a few occasions watching the tide come in right up to the rocks beneath our feet before heading back to the cottage. We also took fish and chips from the village down to the beach to watch the low tide start to return and fill the rock pools up again. Very relaxing and generally no one else about on the beach in the evenings The sunset is AB FAB. A fabulous and unique location in my experience.
Marian and Peter are excellent hosts and made us feel comfortable at all times. Nothing was too much trouble and they had ample knowledge of the surrounding areas, giving us a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. We highly recommend this B&B and will certainly return next time we head to Cornwall.
