Reviewed June 19, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

The perfect place to stay and you couldn't ask for a better location just beautiful. Simple/no fuss interior to the flat but you don't really need anything else. Fully equipped kitchen lots of books & DVDS for a rainy day thank fully we didn't need to use them as the weather was beautiful. Very easy to book and clear instructions on how to get there, key collection etc. Perfect for a family stay or a couple.

“A little bit of heaven in Gorran Haven”

We've been holidaying at the Watch House for a number of years now, so what is it that keeps us coming back for more? LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION... The Watch House is in a fantastic setting right on the beach at Gorran Haven, a lovely coastal village near Mevagissey. From the moment you arrive you won't be disappointed with the panoramic view from the main window and the sounds of the sea.

The accommodation is reached on foot - public car park approx. 100m away, but you can park up next to the chip shop to unpack if you have a lot of bags. The main living area is up a staircase (so unsuitable for those with limited mobility) and you enter into the living room come dining room come main bedroom. Since our last visit the decor has been updated with a fresh lick of paint and the pull-down bed has been replaced. It is much better, more comfortable and very easy to put up / down each day.

The kitchen is small but perfectly formed after an update, with new cupboards, oven and even a dishwasher! In the back is a twin bedroom and a small bathroom with shower cubicle (step up into it).

The accommodation while small is large enough for four adults but is better suited to close family or a couple with children. Everything is clean especially considering it is right on the beach and allows pets, my only suggestion for improvement is more comfy seats in the living area.

Things to do - on your doorstep is the coastal path, to the left takes you towards Mevagissey and the right to Dodman's Point - both excellent walks and well worth the effort. The Lawnroc Hotel and Restaurant up the road is open for food and drink, we've only ever been up there a couple of times for a drink in the evening so cannot comment on the menu or quality of food. The mermaid cafe on the beach is open every day come rain or shine and offers hot snacks, drinks and ice creams. This year we were incredibly lucky to see a seal, a snake (slow worm) and a basking shark in the bay!

If you want to go further afield then you are only 20-30 minute drive from the Eden Project and the supermarkets in Saint Austell, Charlestown is a lovely port and only a short drive down the road, and even closer are the fabulous Lost Gardens of Heligan.

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday with fantastic beach access, fabulous views and the sound of the sea then I cannot recommend the Watch House enough. We will be back!

“beautiful views”
Reviewed June 6, 2011 for a stay in May 2011

This flat has beautiful views and you could not get any closer to the beach. The flat was spotless clean and has everything you could possibly need. My children cried when we left. They loved being able to play on the beach all day and watch the harbour. There is a post office/shop called cake breads which is a really lovely handy shop. chip shop and also a shop where you can get your bucket and spades etc.also a cafe on the beach which is nice. What more can i say, Apart from thank you so very much for letting us rent this fab place. We hope we can return one day soon.
