“Camping in a swamp no service, no manners!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2012 via mobile

We arrived on a saturday and were told our pitch was not ready the other members of party already had their pitch. We went back to the reception to ask if we could be near to them as we had specified in our booking. They were rude and basically said you'll get what your given. We were given a pitch that was ankle deep in mud. When we went back to reception we were given a list of alternative available pitches and rudely told 'everyone has the same problem, not just you!' . We couldnt even check out some of the pitches as my car was just wheel spinning in the mud. We had to choose the best out of awful swampy stinking pitches. We pitched our tent and then noticed the smell. Apparently it was rotting grass buti smelt like a pig farm. A man came to put sand on it and said that the pitches are not rotated and the grass gets no rest but this was one of the worst pitches he had seen. After more arguements with reception and a few tears, we lifted our tent over a fence onto a grass verge on the terrace above. I could not hear noisy birds just the noisy road all night. The walk to the beach is miles and across the fields was inpassable. In my opinion the management needs to spend a serious amount of money on pitch drainage and customer service training. Our holiday was ruined. Go to Trevornick it is in a different league!

We were sorry to read of your disappointment with your holiday at Trevella.

We always strive to provide relaxing and enjoyable holidays for our guests and is regrettable when this does not occur. Feedback is always welcome to enable us to achieve these goals.

Check in/arrival time is 3pm for pitches and this is to allow time for departures and maintenance ready for occupancy.

Whilst we try our best to honour guest’s requests for particular locations we are not able to guarantee these.

We apologise for how badly affected certain areas were by the bad weather, of which we were unable to predict the severity and certainly did not foresee it being the wettest summer since records began. However we believe that the team here at Trevella would have done their best to help and again apologise if you did not feel this was the case.

As we currently put together our winter improvement plans for the park, we will take this time to look into feedback from the 2012 season, including your own, and take into account all comments, investigating ways in which we can improve the situation for years to come.

Moving forward, to enable us to deal with this matter more thoroughly, please feel free to contact us at Trevella and we will be happy to talk things through, we are available on 01637 830308 or guest.services@trevella.co.uk

Kind Regards,
Trevella Park.

Despite booking a good 8 months earlier and requesting plots together ( which they confirmed ) we arrived to find we were at opposite ends of site , a quick move of a new arrival meant we were in same field but squashed under trees by a fence and walkway for our two week main family holiday, nothing more offered not even a free drink ! Just advised they were working on it .... We left after the two weeks hearing nothing more .... The site itself is noisy the walkway by our expensive fully serviced pitch was the only way for trolley loos to be pulled to elsan point .... Very disappointed as we had gone to a lot if trouble to book early to avoid this happening, whilst I do appreciate that the site was full it was their mistake but they didn't make any effort to make it better for us which is a shame as its definitely put us off going again or recommending it to friends
To be fair it's a clean site with a lovely walk to the beach about 1/2 hour

We excitedly booked our 'Glamping' holiday after receiving this years brochure. Our children chose to stay in a Teepee which were advertised as having 'cosy beds' and a camp fire, the teepees are quite small compared to the bell tents and both are very basic, no cosy or glamorous touches. No door mats, cushions, rugs, blankets or anything else to make it seem glamorous or cosy and the picture in the brochure is not one of the tents on the site. The cosy beds are thin mattresses on the floor and as for the camp fire, there isn't one ! Least to say we were disappointed, our main disappointed being that when we entered the teepee we noticed a large wet patch on the floor and looked above to see that the top of the Teepee's are not watertight ( u can see the sky ! ) and the rain is able to freely run down into the Teepee's and all over your beds, clothes and other possessions ! We were informed by staff that nearly every previous Teepee tenant had to be moved to other accommodation and yet we were not informed of the issue before our holiday and when I spoke to the relief manager I was told he would be happy to move us but no accommodation was available as they were fully booked, whilst this may well have been the case I was still upset that we were left with no suitable accommodation ! Finally, we were offered a bell tent, which was not occupied as the zip had broken, they did a temporary fixing to enable us to use the tent but this broke on the first day and we were not offered any further accommodation. I love Newquay and Crantock in particular and have enjoyed holidays at this site before. The site is in a good location and is very well kept but I have lost faith in management as this year we were let down by false advertising and the fact our Teepee was not fit for purpose and we were not notified of these issues, if so we could have changed accommodation choice before availability became an issue. I don't think we will be using the park again.

Room Tip: Avoid teepee's, safari tents looked good though !

We spent 5 days in a standard caravan last week and loved it so much we have booked for next year. We arrived on Monday morning at 9.30 and asked at Reception if we could leave our car in the car park and go off exploring. The staff were very friendly and gave us permission and promised to phone when our caravan was ready (which they did). They also provided leaflets to Crantock and bus timetables. The bus stop is just outside the site, so armed with our bus passes we had no need to use our car for the week. The site is immaculate with flowers everywhere. All the staff are very friendly. We were impressed with the recycling facilities. We enjoyed walking to Crantock beach and Newquay. As it was low tide, we could easily cross the River Gannel. We enjoyed a game of crazy golf but it was too cold to try the simming pool. The site was very quiet as it was term time. As previously mentioned we are planning to return next year.

Stayed in a 6 bed chalet with our dog which was spacious, clean & comfortable.

We paid extra for her and usually this money is just kept for cleaning expenses after you leave, but we received a bed for her, water & food bowls, poo bags and lots of chews which was a lovely touch.

The site itself is well maintained & bursting with flowers. 2 large play areas for families, swimming pool, shop & recycling facilities.

If you wanted to be super picky, the fridge was tiny so you had to shop almost daily and because the mornings were damp from dew all of the grass cuttings walked through the chalet every time you went outside, but we'll be back definitely, fab location and friendly staff

I think some of these reviewers must have been at a differnet holiday park to me its sooooo good we have rebooked for 2 weeks for Aug 2013 great for families , Teenagers , young children

Immaculate gardens/grounds
Great size Premium pitches
Lovely swimming pool with sunloungers - Access code entry
Great showers faired well at peak season
Pot wash - 4 sinks hot water went cool at peak useage
Shop Cafe Games Room Animal Corner great adventure playground and play park
Warden presence at night times to prevent rowdys
TV room - needs an update
Fishing lakes and bait hut - (could be open longer)
Reception - very busy staff good
Great location

Maybe the games room could be extended to provide more entertainment for teenagers but it is an excellent well run family park with good discounts at certain times of year

Room Tip: Premium pitches worth paying a little bit extra for

I have just come back from a 3 night stay at Trevella Holiday Park. The grounds are impressive and the gardener/gardeners obviously put a lot of effort into it and take pride in making the grounds attractive. The entrance drive has lots of beautiful flowering bushes bordering each side and the grounds themselves have lots of lovely plants and flowers. The reception area and shop were modern and attractive. I went and had a look at Crantock beach camping site and it wasn't half as nice or welcoming, although It seemed to have more facilities, like a pub, the pub was more like a run down old shack and the caravans seemed to be crammed together. Trevella seems to be very residential the caravans were in a circle facing a large patch of grass containing swings and slides so parents could look out from their caravan window and keep an eye on their children while they played. The caravans weren't all crammed together like some caravan parks. I also noticed that the people that stayed there were very polite, well mannered and there wasn't any loutish behaviour on the site. The caravan we stayed in was really clean and modern, every utensil you needed was provided for. I would definitely recommend this camping site
