“absolutely perfect in every way....”
Reviewed August 4, 2009

We recently held our wedding ceremony at the Liscawn and everything was just perfect. All guests commented on the lovely setting and beautiful wedding ceremony. Paul and Fiona (the owners of the Liscawn Inn) were fantastic. Everyone who joined us to celebrate our wedding have said what a great time they had. The rooms are immaculate and we had a beautifully cooked full English breakfast. All of our guests who stayed overnight were also pleased with the standard of the accommodation.
I would recommend the Liscawn to anyone - we live about 15 minutes away and I would still go and stay for a night or two!!!!
This is a peaceful retreat set in beautiful surroundings.
Thank you, Paul and Fiona!

We stayed here for a family wedding , the ceremony was held in the hotel as was the reception and the evening event.A really wonderful stay. The accommodation was very comfortable, welcoming and very easy to relax in. The hosts were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. The wedding itself ran incredibly smoothly. I was sorry I had to leave to come home.

Very basic - they state it is a hotel but as the place is closed during the daytime it really is a B&B. If it's a hotel why does the place not provide lunch and why does it close between 9.30AM and 6pm?! Only used restaurant for breakfast so can't comment on food.
Rooms are very old fashioned and cheaply furnished. wet towels are folded back on to the towel rail which wasn't on to dry them. Shower is more of trickle than a shower. Beds have cheap mattresses which are not very comfy.
Run by a couple - Mrs very pleasant. Mr, a smile and co-operation would help.
They are missing an opportunity to make this place into a very successful business as the venue is in a good location.
The hotel requires someone with taste to refurnish and bring into the 21st century and turn it into a hotel that is open 24 hours with full hotel facilities and they would be sitting on a gold mine.

My Mum and her partner stayed at this Inn for a birthday break for one night and as they don't have the internet they asked me to put this review on TA for them. I don't know why they didn't complain on some of the points below but being as they are senior citizens and don't normally stay in hotels I think they didn't want to make a fuss:

The room was nice and average size. We were 'upgraded' to the 4 poster room although we'd paid for a double room. There was a small tv, hairdryer, wardrobe, desk & bedside cabinets and a tray of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and Cornish fudge . We had an ensuite shower-room with 4 towels, flannels, soap, shampoo, shower gel and bath robes. Not so nice were the dead flies on the windowsill and as it was in January can only assume it hadn't been cleaned for a while.
Dinner was in the bar as the dining room was closed. This was fine as there were only us two, plus 3 rep's who we got chatting to in the bar. Dining hours were only 6pm till 8.30pm and I felt sorry for a rep who came in at 8.45pm and had to go out again to find somewhere to eat. The tables hadn't been cleaned as there were ring marks and as the bar had only just opened they obviously hadn't been cleaned since the last opening time. The dinner was nice and reasonably priced.
When we went to bed at around 11.30pm the heating had been turned off and the room was chilly. It did not come on again until about 6am - and in January, when the outside temp was near freezing, this wasn't really acceptable ! We should have complained but it was too late.
For breakfast there was a selection of cereals and fruit juice followed by a full English of sausage, eggs, bacon, tomato, fried slice & toast, however the toast was served first with the tea / coffee and was cold by the time we received our cooked breakfast. We weren't asked how we preferred our eggs, although the menu gives a choice, so they were fried and the bread had been deep fried so it was really greasy and inedible. The tablecloth was clean but the place mat was sticky and as we were the only ones to have sat at the table it obviously hadn't been wiped either.
We felt they were indifferent to the needs of their customers and for the money they charged (£70 per room) we could have gone to a much nicer B&B. We wouldn't stay there again.

Visited for one night. Lovely setting and beautiful views but accomodation was poor. Although whole place had recently been refurbished it was at a (not very high ) Diy standard . Ancient TV in bedroom, no bath but very nice shower room with a power shower, although the shower didn't work at all.
Nice, full english breakfast . Landlord was polite but not very charismatic. I won't stay here again.

We stayed here in August. The room was basically furnished, but clean and we could take our dog, which was great and why we chose to stay here. The en-suite bathroom was a nice size with a walk-in shower. The shower itself was terrible though, more of a weak drizzle than power shower. I was very disappointed that the bar only opened between 6 - 8.30 in the evening and at lunchtime. I guess their licence means they can only serve alcohol with food, which meant that we ate out for most of our stay. The staff were polite and there was adequate car-parking space. The adjacent self-contained accommodation looked far more appealing and smart, but if you are on a budget then it is ideal.

Visit to Liscawn Inn March 2004.
Great location, but found the inn itself a little disappointing. Room very small, facilities basic & overall a little shabby. Building an extension, of which we were not advised when we booked, & rubble meant it wasn't easy to explore the grounds or get anywhere near the pond.
Our double room was just £50 per night, so maybe I'm expecting too much. Could be lovely with a few improvements - & if the host was a little more cheery!
