We had read good reviews for the Masons Arms and were looking forward to having lunch there.
Shortly after we arrived, the chef started shouting and swearing, to the evident embarrassment of the barmaid, who could not have been more friendly and courteous. We heard her saying to him that there were customers in the bar, but the noise continued.
Rather than risk eating food cooked by someone in a bad temper who clearly didn't care if his customers heard him, we went elsewhere.

Sorry you overheard an argument that was going on in the kitchen, it was not intended to be heard by customers in the bar.

We made 2 visits to this pub whilst staying nearby, first time, we had the dog with us and although they advertise as dog friendly, be prepared to be put in the naughty corner as dogs are only allowed in that part of the pub (or so we were told), the area is where the pool table is and a table in the corner was offered, no thanks, and off to the award winning chippy round the corner.

2nd visit, no dog, just the two of us, it was fairly busy and we had not booked, but we did not even get the opportunity to order a drink or ask if there were any tables available, because none of the staff attempted to talk to us, one was serving and walked straight past us without even a smile or a good evening, and the lady behind the bar was too busy ! chatting with some regulars, again, no eye contact or I will be with you in a moment.

Poor service and manners in my book, so it was another exit with an empty stomach.

The food we saw people eating looked very nice, so we may have missed out on a couple of nice meals.

Great find this just on the A39 in Camelford between Market Place and Victoria Road. An absolutely amazing menu that seems to be endless, with specials boards for Meat, Fish, Seafood, Pies, winter warmers, grills, oh and a very weighty dessert board if you can last the pace and the list just goes on.
Excellent selection of casked ales and Ciders, Rattler in particular, wooden casked and not a bottle in sight!!
A meal for two starters and main is around £30.00 and that includes the ciders!! We had scrumptious chicken and leek pie, slow roasted shoulder of lamb with assorted vegetables and potatoes, whitebait and Pate, sorry not in that order though.
Highly recommend will be going back next year!
