Brilliant place for children, safe rural environment, we had a great few days in the early spring weather. The little ones fed animals and explored the fields, evenings spent in cosy cottage with log fire.We enjoyed the beaches nearby and Eden Project. Everything was clean and well presented. Booked for next year...

Have been going to Cornwall and staying in cottages, beach houses and appartments for the last 15 years and without a doubt this is the worst standard of accomodation ever experienced. The cottage was very dirty and in a poor state of repair, furniture damaged, dishwasher door broken, fir blanket stuffed between the cooker and the dishwasher and exposed wiring to the light switch. The games room was full of dead flies for the duration of the stay and there had been no attempt to clear them up. Absolutely not suitable for a family, espeically with children under the age of 4. The poor weather meant spending time in the house in the evening as opposed to sitting on the very pleasant patio area, the cottage was not a nice place to be, it was so bad we actually left after 3 days and went home! So i'd rate this as my worst holiday experience ever.I've travelled in over 40 coutries and stayed in some quite basic places so I'm not ultra fussy but when paying these sorts of prices you expect a good standard of hygeine and facilities. I would not recommend Mayrose Farm (especially the Crogwy or whatever it was called). I complained and wrote to the owner and did not get a response. On the positive side the children enjoyed the animals and the pond at the bottom of the field was a beauty spot.

We are sorry to hear that your stay with us did not meet your expectations.

We endeavour to maintain the standards of our cottages to ensure our guests have an enjoyable holiday at Mayrose Farm. All our cottages are thoroughly cleaned between each changeover, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene.

As far as the state of repair is concerned, we undertake a thorough maintenance programme each winter, but unfortunately some things get overlooked. Some of the points made above we apologise for and were acted upon when we were made aware of them. We appreciate guests letting us know of any problems as they arise, so that they can be rectified as soon as possible.

The games room is cleaned on a regular basis, but the large southwest facing glazed area does attract Cluster flies towards the end of summer; this is a recurring problem that is hard to control.

We find our prices are competitive with other similar accomodation providers in this very popular tourist destination, who offer the same array of facilities such as heated swimming pool, games room, animals, basic farm shop and laundry (definitely not the cheapest in Cornwall!) to mention a few.

A written response was not sent, as the two earlier telephone conversations had explained and discussed most issues raised.

It was great to get away from it all and the madding crowd. Remote yes, although this is our way of life and our home is remote, so we felt at home. Great location, as you are at the centre of most areas within a 20 mile drive, usual school daily run for us. Well done to the family who run this site, this reflects all your hard work, excellent job.

We stayed two weeks in the Glampod which would have been fantastic but the weather was awful, the Glampod itself is great for a family with young children but would be a squeeze with older children or four adults. The cooking facilities, shower and toilet were excellent and we were always warm and cost in the evenings thanks to the log burner. The location was poor and pretty much everything was at least a ten minute drive away. The pool area was great if we had had the weather for outdoor swimming! The shop and laundry were excellent but at £8.50 for a wash and dry pretty expensive. We were promised free wood, but had to collect this ourselves which was a problem in the rain.

Our family of 3 generations stayed in the Crowgy , aged from 4 to 50+, it was a superb holiday in every way. The cream tea was a lovely welcome, the accomodation was perfect, along with the pool & the farm and the children loved feeding the animals every morning, the BBQ got used and we left feeling relaxed ! The area offered lots of places to visit and we hope to be back soon. thanks Jane & David for everything.

Room Tip: The farm shop was useful for little extras , including the duck eggs & necessary chocolate fix o...

We had one of the cottages and their eco friendly "glampod" for a family get together last August and all of us, adults, and children from 2 to 13 had a wonderful time. Everything was perfect and so relaxing with lots of space for little ones to run around and let off steam. The swimming pool and the chickens, ducks, rabbits etc are also great attractions for children(of all ages) We spent much of our time there at the glampod which was great for BBQs and getting together (look at their website for more info). There is also a lovely little lake at the bottom of a field. Buying fresh eggs and garden produce in the shop was a bonus. Jane and David made everyone very welcome, and I recommend Mayrose to anyone who wants to get away from city life. Not far from great beaches too.
