This hotel doesn't have the facilities of larger more expensive places, but the service was superb. An older style property with shared bathrooms etc, but the rooms were warm, comfortable and clean.
Breakfast was amazing with a great variety and portions. We were passing through on a cycling trip and would definitely recommend to others.

we walked in the door and the smell of damp was overwhelming, my mother-in-law had a room to herself which was clean, but she had to use a bathroom down the corridor that you couldnt get into because there was washing all over the floor and in the bath.
we walked out to the car park and had to duck under soaking washing on the line, how this place got three stars i will never know, we walked out after the first night due to the smell

We stayed for two nights in the family room with our 13 year old daughter. We were put on alert in the car park where the top garden with a picnic bench was severely overgrown. On entry a slight smell of damp was noticed. The room was average with different patterned and very faded duvet, curtains, carpet and wallpaper not striking an instant appeal. There was a shower in the room, or rather a small wooden box with an old plastic shower curtain only slightly protecting our modesty. My husband was unable to use it unless he concertinered himself up as it was narrow and short. A kettle that had to be plugged on the other side of the room was provided with the usual beverages. However we felt 4 milk cartons stingy for three of us and on the second night we only had two mugs provided. In the morning we had alot of condensation in the windows, unusual for August, but the window frames were in need of at least a coat of paint and the net curtain throwing away. The toilet was opposite the owners daughter's bedroom, which felt slightly odd. There was a lounge which was supposed to be for guests use but on the first night when we sat there the owner popped his head in and said 'Oh, hello' in a surprised voice and vanished making us feel slightly awkward. The second night we got in at 10.00 in the evening and the lounge door was firmly shut!! Breakfast was fantastic, however. A good choice of fruits and cereals with a lovely cooked breakfast. Thank goodness!! For those brave enough to stay, I would warn you that it sits on a busy road with cars and lorries thundering past early morning.

Stayed for one night at the Countryman Hotel, whilst touring Cornwall.
I stayed in the cheapest room in the hotel - the single bedroom with shared bathroom facilities. The bed was very comfortable (and larger than a normal single bed) - and the room had its own sink, tea and coffee facilities and a small tv (though reception on the tv was very poor for all channels). The shared bathroom only has a bath, which was fine for one night for a shower-addict like myself but I'd have needed to be in a different room for a longer stay.
Wi-fi is available - if you have a laptop - though you need to sit downstairs in the lounge to get a clear signal.
Camelford itself has plenty of places to eat in the evening - a short 10 minute walk from the hotel. Breakfast was excellent - and the hosts are very friendly and helpful with any advice about the local area - or Cornwall in general.
