The cooking in this small restaurant located a bit off the normal traffic route, is getting very close the Michelin starred levels of other more well known establishments in Cornwall. Opening with superb canapés followed by a well balanced tasting menu excellently and sensitively cooked and presented with a lot of thought given to the complimentary flavours on the dish. The cooking is backed up by an excellent front of house operation in a very pleasing atmosphere. Our big Oh Dear is solely generated by the length of time taken between each course and with only 14 covers on the night we visited an even bigger service could become even worse. This was obviously generated by having only one chef in the kitchen preparing each plate, cooking the main components and sauces and then undertaking final dressing prior to service and with the cost of this fantastic meal only being £37.50 each we would gladly have paid another £20 each which would by far and away cover the cost of an additional sous chef to speed up the flow of the entire service. What a pity- as with some more thought about the flow of the menu and the needs of the customer whilst eating this little gem of a restaurant could really go somewhere.

I've eaten in many fine restaurants in the UK,USA,France and Italy and can honestly say this is as good as any.The food is exquisite and beautifully presented.Gail and Anton are a marvellous, complementary team.If you want a quick scran and be off-forget it.You need a full 4 hours to savour the full excellence of the tasting menu. We're lucky enough to live nearby and have been around a dozen times, perhaps more and never has the food been anything than superb. You would need to go to at least Dartmouth before anywhere would compare.Other local highly recommended restaurants -the Horn of Plenty and Peter Gortons-are not in the same league.Thank you for all the fine evenings.

Having read the reports added by sad folk (3 in total) giving this restaurant a poor or average grading, i can only say they clearly have no idea what good, nigh, excellent food and service taste and look like. I have used Langmans restaurant quite a few times with my wife and on occasions friends and family, and i can assure all who would read this comment, the food served and the service itself is second to none and is always of superb quality. This is an eating experience, therefore you would expect breaks between each course. The evening at this restaurant is exactly that. An evening out, and a beautiful one on each and ever occasion ive visited. Usually starting around 8pm, expect your total eating experience to last at least 3 hrs, and its a complete delight when my wife and i do make the reservation. My advice to any person wanting completely superb food served in such a nice way with indepth knowledge of the food itself and the wines that go with the differing courses, is to go along and enjoy an excellent experience. My wife and myself will continue to attend this delightful restaurant well into the future. As a final note, having eaten in many restaurants quite literally all over the world, i'd consider myself to have eaten very well many times, but the food served at Langmans is without doubt the best i've ever tasted.

Do not be put off by the slightly dated frontage - my wife and I had an excellent meal, superb value for such good cooking - well worth visiting Callington for this little gem.

The food at evening of The Taste of the Sea - Tasting Menu, was excellent, the presentation, taste and quality was first class, together with the service. An excellent restaurant in a small cornish town.
