The cooking in this small restaurant located a bit off the normal traffic route, is getting very close the Michelin starred levels of other more well known establishments in Cornwall. Opening with superb canapés followed by a well balanced tasting menu excellently and sensitively cooked and presented with a lot of thought given to the complimentary flavours on the dish. The cooking is backed up by an excellent front of house operation in a very pleasing atmosphere. Our big Oh Dear is solely generated by the length of time taken between each course and with only 14 covers on the night we visited an even bigger service could become even worse. This was obviously generated by having only one chef in the kitchen preparing each plate, cooking the main components and sauces and then undertaking final dressing prior to service and with the cost of this fantastic meal only being £37.50 each we would gladly have paid another £20 each which would by far and away cover the cost of an additional sous chef to speed up the flow of the entire service. What a pity- as with some more thought about the flow of the menu and the needs of the customer whilst eating this little gem of a restaurant could really go somewhere.
