“Midday Lunch”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

Five of us stopped for lunch on our way to Godolphin House. The menu was varied and the food good. the only thing I could complain about really was the fact that it was a cold, wet, autumnal day and the fire was not coping. The doors were left open and although one member of te party complained about the lack of warmth the landlord did not do anything about it. I would go back for one of their steak and wine meals, they sound lovely.

Room Tip: we didn't stay only had a meal there as we were staying in Porthleven.

We stopped at this delightful rather quaint pub after finding out that the B & B had closed down a couple of years ago. Service was A1 and the meals were value for money. We had a lovely room overlooking the local church.

Chris and Sue were the ideal hosts, thank you so much.

Room Tip: You may get a little noise if they have a band as all rooms are on the first floor and you need to r...

We visited this pub following a recommendation. We felt welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. The lunch menu was varied and there were choices for smaller appetites. The food we chose arrived quickly and was well presented. The beer battered haddock was the one of the tastiest meals I have had for a while. We opted for a dessert and we were not disappointed! There were lots of choices but we went for the white chocolate cheesecake - it was amazing! The whole experience was a good one and I would happily return. The bill was extremely reasonable too. Great place, would highly recommend!

Absolutely excellent place. Having to make quite frequent visits to the West country we had had our fill of chic boutique hotels and guest houses - what a breath of fresh air the Queens Arms was. Meals excellently prepared and in good quantities too, provided by friendly and attentive staff. No hanging about waiting for your meals in this place. Chris, the landlord is brilliant and is truly the heart of this pub and its community. There are two rooms for B+B purposes one having the larger king-size bed - both rooms were spotlessly clean and had views over the countryside and the village church. I havent mentioned the excellent range of cask ales and Wednesday's quiz night - what a laugh! but get down there and you won't regret it.

Chris and Sue know exactly how to look after their guests. If only a lot of others would learn. Spotless room, well appointed bathroom, nothing too much trouble. But the main plus point is the friendly and courteous welcome from all the staff - obviously a house tradition. Everything you want - good food and drink, easy car parking, wonderful old church opposite, and a great area to be on holiday. Noise from pub and church bells no problem at all - both just a happy mumble.

Great location, rooms are big and well decorated. The bed was spot on. Good night had.i left early so didn't have a cooked breakfast, but they left cereals, fruit out for me. Would recommend to anyone. Very homely.
