Owner description: The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic houses one of the world's largest collections of items relating to witchcraft, the occult and magic. With over 3000 objects, a wise woman's cottage, a herb garden and a shrine it is a memorable place. It has been in the picturesque Cornish coastal village of Boscastle since 1961 and is one of Cornwall's most popular museums rated highly on TripAdvisor. The Museum intrigues visitors with its collections of charms, curses, herbs and healing and sea witchcraft. Some of our most popular items are magical tools such as glass knitting needles, objects which were used for scrying such as black mirrors, crystals and crystal balls and our collection of protection talismans made by soldiers in the trenches of World War One. The Museum also has an extensive library with other 7000 books and an archive of documents which can be viewed online or visited by appointment.

A Unique and totally interesting Museum.Wish I had,had more Time to read information on articles, but with a 8 year old in toe,no chance of that.Which is only downside, the younger children`s attention span not cut out, to waiting for adults to read up on all the history. But in fairness that would apply to most Museums.(other than Dinosauars!)

“An eagerly awaited visit....was not disappointed.”
Reviewed April 17, 2014 via mobile

My sister and I had wanted to visit this museum last year but due to time constraints had to delay our trip.

Having grown up watching cliche films about witches (The Witches, Hocus Pocus) we had always held an interest in anything 'mystical'. We were greeted with a smile (a characteristic of many Cornish folk) and welcomed us warmly to the museum. The artefacts and information were outstanding and explained to novices (like us) in this area exactly how the history of witchcraft had developed over the time.

You had a real sense that the owners of this museum put their heart and soul in to presenting witchcraft as a part of our heritage and there is a lot of love put in to leaving an impression on us the visitors.

A real gem of a museum and one I would like to revisit again.

Many thanks to a morning well spent and a interest to read more about this subject.

“Very interesting and in a fantastic location!”
Reviewed April 16, 2014

We visited the museum today with our dog. It was lovely to be able to take our dog in with us, as many attraction do not welcome them, we got a very warm welcome and the pooch was given lots of fuss.
The museum is very interesting and informative, all the displays are clearly labelled with plenty of information on each on. There are lots of artefacts and stories to view. We really enjoyed our visit and it was well worth the time and money. It is located in a lovely little village, on the main street also so it isn't out of the way. We incorporated the visit into our day whilst having a stroll around.
The shop at the end is also excellent, with plenty of souvenirs to buy and also some specialist items to buy for those interested in wicca etc.
The price was very reasonable, with it only costing £10 for both me and my partner - the dog was free!

Excellent, interesting, informative, eye opening. My wife, my son (10.5) and I found the articles and artifacts really interesting. Its a shame so many people were persecuted the the "C" cult.

“A fantastic experience”
Reviewed April 13, 2014 via mobile

The museum was packed full of incredible displays of such interesting artefacts, stories and sound bites. We arrived just after it opened on a Sunday and it was lovely and quiet, we nearly had the place to ourselves which is lovely as there is so much to take in. We're going to have to come back as we enjoyed it so much and wish we could remember everything we read. The price is a very reasonable £5 per adult and there is a lovely little gift shop with very desirable bits and bobs. Coupled with the wonderful cafe opposite we had a perfect morning, thank you.
