What a pleasant surprise. Happy bar staff, quick service with drinks and meals although the place was packed! Med veg pesto panini, chips, salad & coleslaw. The best steak & ale pie ever! with mixed veg & choice of potatoes. Excellent value too.

We have been using The Jamaica Inn as a stop over before going further down in Cornwall. The accommodation ranges from old rooms in the original part of the building to new rooms in what I think is an annexe. However, all rooms are very clean and comfortable and the food in the restaurant is excellent. That said it gets very busy at all times of the year and it is advisable to book a table. They allow dogs in the bar area, which always has a good selection of ales. The breakfast is a buffet style with a good selection to suit all.

Hope to see you again one day.

Excellent old inn which has been tastefully decorated and extended into a wonderful pub/ restaurant and hotel. They also have a fab gift shop which is extensively stocked, farm shop and smugglers museum. We had the pleasure of staying in the hotel, in the old rooms above the bar. Excellent quality, spacious, very clean and comfortable. We loved the four poster bed and the quaintness of the building, uneven floors and walls etc. You really felt like this was a very special place. The staff were superb, very helpful and attentive. Very knowledgeable about the history of the place and advised us on everything we needed to know. We had food in the restaurant which was fab. Lots of options for all tastes and dietary needs. They catered for me with a gluten free dish and again for breakfast. The food was well cooked, a large portion and very tasty. All washed down with local cider! We really wanted a dessert, the options looked good, but didn't have the room. However we did have a Cornish ice cream the following day from the shop which was lovely. Breakfast was buffet style, but you could order anything cooked if wished. All very tasty and plentiful. A fab atmosphere in the place, lots of areas to chill inside and outside. Combine this with the ambiance of the buildings history with artifacts and exhibits everywhere, it really is a unique place to visit.

And thanks also for so many compliments in particular that you found your bedroom ‘spacious, very clean and comfortable’, the food ‘well cooked, large portions and very tasty’ with gluten free catered for and that our staff were ‘superb, very helpful and attentive’. Glad you also had time to visit our Farm and Gift shops and the Smuggling Museum.

Hope to see you again sometime.

Took another trip back to Jamaica Inn this time with family down from Nottingham for a few days. Of course we had a cream tea as you do, which was just as good as the last time, but it was the service that was lacking this trip. The gent serving told my friend to help herself to the goodies from the table behind her, to which she declined so he somewhat reluctantly he would bring them over to us.

Now we wouldn’t normally fuss but the place only had a few tables occupied, we were inside and the food/drinks were about 20 feet or so away from us, we are disabled in some way so carrying a tray can’t be done nor can several trips well not without risk or great difficulty, so it would have been easier to go without food and just get a drink. Added to this last time the place was packed out and the gentleman who by the way was decidedly pink and more than moist with sweat, could not have put himself out more or been more obliging and helpful by bringing our meals and teas outside to us: hence not being too impressed with the service this time.

At our last visit we sat outside and only ventured in to order food and drinks, but this time we went further inside and we were amazed at just how big it is inside – it’s huge with lots of chairs and tables and a gift shop etc. We didn’t wander around but if you are able on your trip to Jamaica Inn, I would recommend you take a good look around so you don’t miss anything.

I am pleased you recommend others 'to take a good look around so you don’t miss anything' at Jamaica Inn and for you giving us nearly the top number of Stars for your Review - 4 out of 5.

It may be because the only complaint you seem to have is our member of staff only 'reluctantly' bringing over your cream tea. 'Reluctance' is open to interpretation and you may have judged him wrongly - hopefully you did as he did bring it over as our staff offer to carry food and drinks for any customer who requests it, whether they are disabled or not.

Hopefully you will come again as you seem to like the Inn so much especially now you know we have lots of tables and chairs and we have a Gift Shop. We have a Farm Shop too and a Smuggling Museum and the Daphne du Maurier Museum.

We called at Jamaica Inn specifically for a meal, but found the gift shop great ( got lots of goodies! )
The food in the bar was very tasty, not allowed in the restaurant because we had our dog with us.Good portions!
Couldn't access the farm shop because of steps, also some areas were cobbled which isn't great with a wheelchair.
Overall though we liked the Jamaica Inn.

Thank you for your 5 Star Review and I am pleased you like the Inn, its 'very tasty food' with good portions and found the Gift Shop 'great'.

There is a disabled access to our Farm Shop with no steps and I am sorry you appear not to have realised this - just come up the sloping ramp on the outside and into the shop - there are no steps.

Perhaps next time? Look forward to seeing you.
