Carriage Corner Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #3 of 4 Intercourse B&B and Inns
Reviewed July 28, 2013

When I go to Bed and Breakfast the first thing I look for is friendliness and hospitality. I did not get any here. I felt I am in someones house uninvited rather then in a welcoming place. The first thing I did not like right on arriving, was that the Inn keeper ask for the money. I mean in the first 5 minutes (even he already had our credit card info). We got OK room, nothing special or cozy about it. The bathroom was clean, towels old with odd smell. You can hear everything and everybody when there are walking around. No much privacy. I did not like the fact that you have to be at breakfast at 8:30 sharp or you will feel like child late for school and be punished. Selection was very basic with no much to choose from. The owner/inn keeper was very frugal with everything. Just an odd guy in the wrong business for his personality. Overall I felt like there are way to many restrictions and not enough hospitality.

My 14 year old daughter and I stayed at Carriage Corner last week and had a great time. Gordon was super helpful in guiding us on what to do and where to go. He was a lovely host and made a delicious breakfast. The room and bathroom were beautiful and very clean. This was a VERY good deal. Amish country is just beautiful. We will be back and stay at Carriage Corner for sure.

Room Tip: Can't go wrong with any of them.

This B&B is located just a 10 minute walk from the shops at the village of Intercourse. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay. Gordon is the host and lives in the home. Breakfast is served promptly at 830am each day, with a set menu and tasty food (when I was there we had waffles/fruit/sausage/bacon one day, and baked oatmeal for the second day). At 830, the guests all sit at the dining room together wherein you can exchange planning ideas for the rest of your trip. We were staying with another couple who had been coming to the area and staying at this B&B for 10 years. The house was quiet and well air conditioned, making it a pleasant experience for someone who is seeking such quiet. When we went to watch fireworks, Gordon let us use his camping chairs, a kind gesture. The bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom were very clean. Gordon also provided a number of great tips on sights and shops, and provided us with a helpful map which we used the entire stay. He also arranged for us to eat dinner at an Amish family's home. I really enjoyed my stay here and would definitely go back to visit.

This is our fourth time staying with Gordon and Gwen at Carriage Corners and we couldn't be happier. Gordon is a very gracious host. The location is absolutely perfect if your visiting Amish Country. Our rooms have always been exceptionally clean and the breakfast is well worth the visit. Gordon keeps this B&B very affordable. We have stayed in the Plum room twice and the Strawberry room twice and have been very happy with the accommodations. We enjoyed visiting with the other guests during breakfast which added to the experience. This is a Christian Home as well as B&B, Gordon always gives beautiful prayers prior to breakfast. That is the icing on the cake for my wife and I. Someone who is not ashamed of his faith!! This is a great place to stay

The inn was very clean and beautifully decorated, but it ended there. Our room was upstairs next to the kitchen and dining area while the other rooms were downstairs. This afforded us no privacy and our room was right in the middle of a noisy floor, included loud vacuuming Friday morning (which we felt was inconsiderate) and unusually loud talking and laughing during morning breakfasts when we wanted to sleep in. (It was Valentine's day weekend, so my partner and I wanted more quiet time. We thought we would get that at a B and B.) The breakfasts were delicious but if you came late to the table, it was not appreciated. Then, we also were met with the owner's rigid remarks that the kitchen was off limits, (even though it was right next to our room), while we were sitting quietly making some oatmeal. Yet the owner cooked constantly there and all you could do is smell all the great food. Basically, he didn't make us feel comfortable, sorry to say. You also couldn't eat in the rooms. All in all, too many rules, not enough hospitality. We felt like we were trespassing, rather than like welcomed guests. The only positive experience we had was that the owner made reservations for us to eat at an Amish family's house for dinner, which was the best part of the trip.

Room Tip: Don't choose the Cranbury room - the bottom floor rooms are best.

We stayed at this cozy little B&B and our time there was wonderful. The location is ideal for visiting all the shops/sights in Intercourse, and it's a short, scenic drive to nearby Ronks, Bird-in-Hand, and Strasburg. We stayed in the Cranberry room, which is the only room on the main floor; it also has a private, attached bathroom. The room was delightful--cozy with an authentic Amish quilt on the bed, a spacious bathroom, a TV with many channels, and tons of books and magazines to enjoy during your leisure time. Gordon was an excellent host--friendly, attentive, and helpful with recommendations about things to do and places to eat. And, he cooks an AMAZING breakfast. Guests are served at a large round table and Gordon is helpful in getting the conversation off and running. And, even when it was just the two of us at the table one morning, Gordon still served a lavish meal and was happy to chat to us. From providing at-home type amenities the bathroom to his warming our plates in the oven before serving us breakfast, Gordon's attention to the detail and the comfort of his guests is heart-warming and makes for a wonderful stay at the Carriage Corner B&B. When we return to Amish Country, we will certainly be staying here again.

Room Tip: The Cranberry room is lovely, and even though it's in the back of the house, you can still hear...

bleust spent two nights at Carriage Corners! What a delightful experience. Gordon was a gracious and knowledge host and a fantastic cook. He served a delicious breakfast each morning -- one day it was a meat casserole accompanied by cucumbers in a sauce, fresh tomatoes, soda bread and fresh fruit. The second morning we enjoyed pumpkin pancakes and oatmeal pancakes with delicious sausage. Once again fresh fruit started the meal. We enjoyed visiting with the other guests as we all ate together. The table was set with lovely linens and pretty dishes.

Gordon was helpful with locating places to go and answer questions about the surrounding area.

Our rooms were attractive and comfortable. Beautiful quilts adorned the beds.
Guests should be aware that the host expects care to be given to the lovely surroundings. He asks that you use coaster to protect the real wood furniture as well as luggage seats to protect the beds and chairs. This seemed very reasonable but it is helpful to know.

You do need to be aware that credit cards are not accepted but he is willing to take cash or a personal check. Once again this is helpful to know ahead of time.
We would highly recommend this bed and breakfast.
