“Deserves an award!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2014

This place is incredible. Roger and his wife have done such an amazing job on this place and continue to do so. The decor is perfectly welcoming and warming, the food is well made, super tasty and great value for money. There are always new and exciting drinks to try out. Come on a Saturday afternoon and play board games, drink pots of tea and have a snack, come on Saturday night for a great meal, live music and a buzzing vibe. I could (and pretty much do) live in here :) All the staff are a great bonus too. I've had birthdays, romantic meals, nights out and family meals here and they're always brilliant.

“A community local”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 19, 2013

Good menu and selection of drinks. I tried the Rothaus a German Pilsner and it's great. Atmosphere was good and the place was buzzing with local families and kids.

Staff are friendly and efficient. Will return again!

“Some speak of Aleksander ...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2013

...and there will be many more. I returned to my local of 50 years ago when it was known originally as The Rising Sun. There have been changes and different owners over the past ten years but I think it has now found its true place in the community. A pub with real ales, great food with interesting choices, based on Italian cooking but with a better bill than 'Jamies', a staff team that are friendly, welcoming, hard-working and wanting to please. We went with friends recently moved into the area and who are quickly becoming recognised 'locals'. Greeted warmly, we ordered about six plates to share and a pizza to cut up (their speciality, with a great wood-fired bread oven installed to produce the goods). The food was fresh, interesting and good quality, the service quick and attentive, the wine (£15 bottle) excellent value Italian and the beer, well kept. The atmosphere was lively (watch out for young children, amused with colouring books - so well happy) the place was buzzing on a Saturday lunchtime. There were some interesting main course dishes to tempt us to return for a supper experience - maybe after Christmas?

“You have to try it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2013

Looked a bit odd when it first opened and sometimes gets over run with families and kids on wet weekend lunchtimes but pick your time and enjoy great beer, superb food, charming service and best of all a pub sized bill not a restaurant one despite having just had one of the best meals you'll eat outside a chi-chi ristorante. Do it, go and try it !

“The epitome of a good local”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013 via mobile

I can think of nothing better to say than that the Aleks is exactly what a 21st Century local should be.

It has great atmosphere. It's a place for local people to go for a drink and a chat.

It has great unpretentious but imaginative food.

It has a good beer list and a good wine list.

The owners have a sense of community.

Twickenham us blessed with a lot if nice pubs. But the Aleks is the best.

Try it !
