“Simple tasty local Thai food, that offers good value.”
Reviewed July 14, 2013 via mobile

Excellent and consistent authentic Thai food, that offers good value for the quality on offer.

Both in house and takeaway options offers good food and service, with meats always cooked well and excellent sticky rice,

Overall pricing is higher than other local takeaways, but this is reflection of the premium level of good and service.

I was very impressed with the attentive service and quality of the food.
Do reserve a table to avoid disappointment.
It certainly has got some charm and deserves a visit.

“Nice little restaurant sometimes”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

Thai Pin is the oldest Thai restaurant around Richmond, Twickenham and St. Margarets. The nearest train station is St. Margarets, only a couple of minutes walk to the left of the station. This is a small restaurant with two floors for dining. On arriving you may think the façade probably needs updating. The décor inside is basic but the size of the restaurant gives it an intimate feel.

We went for Christmas lunch which was perfectly enjoyable, with plenty of choices from A la carte menu. I think having lots of different starters is the way to go with Thai restaurants. For the main course, we had chicken curry, prawn green curry, spicy mixed seafood, pork with garlic and pepper, and vermicelli salads. Everyone of us was happy with the food and service which were excellent.

In February I took a friend to Thai Pin for lunch expecting to repeat the same enjoyable food experience. It’s often a problem with small Thai restaurants where the number of staff is limited. I felt that the person who cooked the lunch did not know how to cook really. The starters were overcooked and burnt. The main course of pork with basil did not have basil and lime leaves and mixed seafood had few overcooked prawns, few clams and a couple mussels in shells, missing out fish and squids, again with no basil and lime leaves but some onions added to a very sweet dark curry sauce. I was sure if they cooked the sauce further it would turn into some sorts of boiled sweets.

Unfortunately you can never be sure who is going to be the cook on the day you visit. I think the owner ought to make sure that food quality in his restaurant is constant, not a lottery. The service was fine as Thai food does not require a highly skilled person to do the work.

“Nice and hot”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

I always find it hard to find good quality Thai food outside Thailand but this restaurant was really good. The soup was so spicy that no one in the restaurant could eat it without an initially coughing loads. However the good was great and really nice.

They claim that all their veg is delivered weekly from Thailand.

Where the starters seemed to cost more the usual, the main courses were fairly cheap.

They also serve Chinese food in there which i would recommend staying clear off.
