“Great for rugby but average hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2013 via mobile

Stayed for a conference in Oct 13. Fantastic location for a rugby event. Staff very good. Good conference facilities and interesting tour of the stadium. 15 min walk into town. Hotel quite average. Rooms OK. Can't imagine why anyone would stay other than for rugby but no complaints.

I stayed at the hotel with my family and we did have a good time. The breakfast price was far too high for what you got and the fact that internet is still charged in the room. You would think that in a hotel like Marriott it would be free. The best part however, was the staff. They are all professional and friendly. The young, friendly, and happy lady from Sweden that works both in the restaurant as a hostess and in reception was amazing to us during our whole stay. We gave her our names in the morning during breakfast and in the evening when we saw her in reception she remembered our names. The hotel is very lucky to have her and we would come back just because of her.

We stayed in Marriott Twickenham for 2 nights in September 2013 during a business trip.
The hotel is very clean, the room was spacious enough. Bathroom is bathtub only, no shower.
Staffs were all great. I felt they were genuinely ready to offer their help. When I faced difficulty in connecting to the internet, the gentleman on the reception desk came to my room and fixed the problem.
Very good breakfast is served in the restaurant with quick and attentive service.
The hotel is located in Twickenham Rugby Stadium. The nearest train station (Twickenham) is 700m away (about 10 min walk). There are at least 2 grocery shops (open until 20:00hrs and self-service laundry (open until 19:00) on the way to the train station. There are also a number of restaurants nearby.
The train trip to central London can, however, take 1 hr or more including train-change in waterloo. One night we took a taxi from Oxford Street to the hotel, about 21 Km; 25 minutes and paid 37 pounds.
Due to the distance and accessibility, I wouldn’t chose this hotel if central London is my target. The hotel remains the best choice for business trips dealing with nearby locations, and of course for the Rugby fans.

Stayed here recently for a couple of nights on a business trip and found this hotel to be a good choice. The room was a good size with 2 nice double beds. The one I slept in was very comfy and the duvet/pillows good too. Plenty of hanging space for suits & shirts etc and the light in the cupboard was very helpful. Nice bathroom with a good selection of toiletries and a nice hot shower with lots of water and good towels. Didn't eat there as business meant I ate somewhere else. Staff were very nice, friendly and helpful.
Free wifi woth decent performance in the lobby area and around the 2nd floor restaurant/coffee shop but you have to pay if you want internet access in your room.
If you're going to the Rugby ground you can't get any closer than this! For restaurants etc the town centre is a 10 minute walk / 5 minute car/tax ride.
Would happily stay here again.

Room Tip: Front rooms can be a little noisy due to traffic so go for other rooms if you're a light sleeper

Nice to stay at a major hotel chain and be treated as an individual. Staff were very friendly and approachable, housekeeping staff were good and friendly too.
I only ate breakfast at the hotel, but it says superb; plenty of choice, including chef service for omelette, etc. Restaurant staff were very pleasant without being false. It appeared they enjoyed their job.
Beds were very comfortable and the rooms spacious enough.
The gym next door was free to use by hotel guests (Virgin gym) and was clean with helpful staff. The pool is family-friendly too, with allocated times for family swim.
One bonus is, if course, is that it forms part of the Twickenham Stadium so great for rugby fans.
Overall we enjoyed our stay; it was a good base for exploring central London and other attractions like Hampton Court.
Twickenham centre is 10-15 minutes walk, where there are rail and bus connections.
The only fault with this hotel is the speed of the Internet connection. It was very poor. But this is a service provider issue (iBahn) and not Marriot.
Marriot beat Hilton hotels hands down.

We stayed here with one toddler and one baby while visiting friends, and had a great stay. The room was really comfortable, lovely soft beds, and a travel cot in the room for the baby (we did have to ask for this twice though and when it came it had one of those wafer thin mattresses so we were gald we had brought our own cot mattress).

Nice bathroom, just really good quality all round. There was also free parking just round the corner so that was ideal. The staff were really lovely, friendly, professional and helpful. We chose the breakfast included option and it was fabulous, massive choice, really good quality, and lots of baby/toddler friendly options. The location is really good, really easy to find.

Overall really can't fault this hotel for value for money!

We stayed at the Twickenham Marriott as part of our silver anniversary celebrations and we're certainly not disappointed. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a 6th floor grand slam pitch view suite room. The room was very spacious and had lovely views of the inside of the stadium including a large balcony. The super king size bed was the most comfortable bed that we have ever slept in and the location of the room meant that we heard no outside noise. We ate in the bar on one of the nights and were impressed with the quality and all at a price of under £30 for starters and main meals for two.
All of the staff were particularly helpful especially the general manager Simeon who arranged our complementary upgrade and wine in the room.
The hotel is ideally located for visiting Central London or the local attractions such as Richmond Park and Kew Gardens.
