“One night only”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

I stayed here for one night only whilst visiting relatives nearby.
The hotel is in a prime position with the grounds leading down to the Lock itself.
The family room I had (there were 2 adults and 2 children in my party) was huge with two 6 foot doubles and a seating area, so plenty of room to spread ourselves out. Bathroom very modern and our needs well catered for, with fluffy towels and bath robes.
The facilities at the hotel are excellent with a large swimming pool (a hot tub would have been nice), an indoor play area, a games room and a play area outside. All in all a perfect place to stay if you have children (ours are aged 10 and 7).
My only slight gripe is that the reception staff were a little reserved in their approach when we checked in and didn't make us feel as welcome as we would have liked, although at all times being courteous. Also Housekeeping seemed to shut down by late evening, and therefore our request for more sachets on our welcome tray resulted in one sachet of hot chocolate being provided by the person on the reception desk!
All in all though, a pleasant place to stay and would definitely return.

Room Tip: Always ask for a room with a nice view when booking.

Dear Jacqueline, Thank you for taking the time to review The Lensbury after your recent stay with us. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your visit and that you found the accommodation comfortable and the leisure facilities good, especially for the kids.

We are sorry to hear that our reception staff were not as welcoming as they should have been and that our housekeeping team were not available to replenish the supplies in your room. We will definitely be looking at both these issues and taking steps to improve.

We look forward to seeing you back at The Lensbury again soon

A few years ago we stayed with our kids and they loved it. Been back three times. The facilities are excellent, with the kids driving me to an early night by getting us up each morning for a swim beofre breakfast, then tennis after a walk round the beautiful grounds. We hired a boat and went up to Kingston for a very reasonable price. Family highlight every year and Noel and the staff in the hotel are very welcoming each time we stay. Slight fault on shower pressure reported in our room and we were given (not offered, but automatically given) an immediate discount on the room. On the terraces and in the sports and social club the staff are brilliant with the kids and friendly and helpful with bookings and ordering meals
Breakfast is an absurdly generous meal that sets you up for the day and the food offered is varied from muesli to coco pops to croissants to full English. The the evening meal menu is good, but a little limited. That said, food was to a very high standard and the quesadilla I had was brilliant. Bar prices are reasonable and ice creams for kids need them on the play area for 45 minutes to run off the sugar.
Looking forward to coming back next year, The kids will insist on it.

I joined my parents at the Lensbury (despite living in London) for a mid-week semi-getaway. And the Lensbury is great for it. The reception is a little homely... not very impressive, but the grounds are fantastic, with the Terrace restaurant overlooking the river and nearby walks through forested river banks. My room was a standard double, which was small but comfortable with modern decor and a view of a grassy area where chidren frolicked.

A common complaint between my family members was that the beds weretoo soft. I got used to it.

My parents had a superior double which was lovely -- significantly bigger with more storage, a small living room, large TV and a Nespresso machine. The only downside was that it was over the restaurant, so if they opened the windows we could hear the extractor fans buzzing away.

The Terrace restaurant / cafeteria is great and we ate there 3 times (although there are some lovely restaurants in the area). The food is pretty basic, but delicious.

My one disappointment was that the Terrace restaurant was clsoed for breakfast as they apparenly were having aircons fitted (much needed). Unfortunately this meant breakfast was served in another not-so-impressive room (but it was ok, really). The breakfast is lovely, with the full English breakfast and continental array.

Special mention must be made of Ashah, who works in the Terrace restaurant. He was pure awesome, allowing us ice cream late at night, directing us to prime seating, and generally just merry and super helpful. Bryony was also great. Positively sweet and truly generous with the ice cream.

The tenis courts are brilliant. They have grass, clay and concrete, all of which are free for guests to play on. The sports club also lent me a raquet.

A really lovely mid-week break, and only about 30 minutes from my actual home. I would definitely recommend a stay at the Lensbury.

Room Tip: I didn't mind the lack ofair con in the standard room, but I know some might find it too warm...

After a quickly arranged trip to visit London, we arrived at 11 am at the Lensbury, knowing hat check in wasn't until 2pm. No. Problem! Our room was ready and available. Nothing was a problem for the staff.
We went into London and had a great day.
On our return, staff were polite and courteous and made sure we knew the facilities available to us.
The room was just right for us. As others have pointed out, there was no air conditioning but a powerful fan was provided in the room.
Breakfast was comprehensive and plentiful. No complaints.
We would happily stay again on our next London visit.

Bedroom smelt of mould. We found an old dirty and wet rag left next to the tea and coffee in the room. The rooms are small but ok. The restaurant service was appalling. The staff are inexcusably rude and the food is poor. Might be strong as a leisure facility but the hotel is really poor. I'm not someone who likes to make a fuss or who complains but for the best part of £200 the whole thing was a total let down.

standard room was ok, shower extremley small no room to move or turn round, no air con and window opened 2 inches wide so no air came in, on arrival we only had 1 set of towels after a phone call and trip to reception got more towels but shouldnt of had to do that in the 1st place, during night the toilet blocked and had to get someone to unblock. Was told upgrade would have only been £20 more, had we been told this on arrival we would have done so. A fan was supplied but very very hot in room on 3rd floor. Breakfast ok lots of choice except we had to ask for more tea - why can't a pot be given to you in 1st instance? Food on hotplate so not sure how fresh it was. For a 4 * hotel we expected more. Staff friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Pay £20 upgrade and get a superior room with air con!

I stayed at this hotel for my nieces wedding . I am disabled and was upgraded because a disabled room wasn't available for the Friday night . Although the room was quite small, I still had room for my mobility scooter. I had everything I needed and much more and with it being so warm was very lucky to have air con.
If you go to the Lensbury try and upgrade you'll be in for a treat. The rest of my family had standard rooms and all though they were basic compared to mine they were still very good , but as it was very very hot some didn't have air con found it difficult ( not the fault of the hotel because who can rely on Btitiah weather ) the food was excellent and the staff were amazing and very helpful.
Also the grounds are wonderful and as it is close to the river and Teddington Lock it is very interesting too.
All in all , would I stay there again , you bet I would if we go to the Area again. Also there are some really good eateries close by so you don't have to go far for something good to eat. Fab Fab Fab

Room Tip: Only upgrade to get a FAB room
