“best coffee and food for miles in Isleworth”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

This is the best coffee for miles in Isleworth. I found this place while with friends on a walk. The coffee is real italian coffee and one of the best I tried in the area. They use real italian coffee beans from Kimbo. I had breakfast with my mates and the scrambled eggs are good with anchovies, bacon or smoked salmon and capers. They also have baked cakes and sweets and croissants. Cakes are all baked at home. There is an excellent choice of panini done with real ciabatta bread and I am totally addicted to their Spicy beans soup. Their quiches are excellent value and the atmosphere nice. The place is kept spotless and the service is prompt and corteous.

“Very friendly, great food and coffee - and mums are welcome!”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

Very nice place - smart, friendly, lovely coffee and cakes/snacks - plus freshly prepared Ciabattas, soups, salads and more. Well worth a visit - and contrary to one review on here we found them really welcoming to us and our new baby. They clearly don't have room for buggy bases though so I guess a little common sense is required :-)

“Not friendly to new mums”
Reviewed May 21, 2013 via mobile

I'm not the only new mum to have been turned away because I had the baby in a buggy. Thus place used to be great, but new policy is family unfriendly.

We have thought long & hard about whether to respond to your review as there are some points that require clarification.

NO Mum or baby has ever been turned away from Syon. We have and do ask that buggy bases remain outside in a designated area for a variety of reasons.

Firstly buggies are becoming increasingly large and cumbersome and our coffee house is small. Our priority is to ensure the health and safety off ALL our patrons and our staff. We must legally comply with Health and Safety legislation and ensure that fire exits are kept clear and "trip" hazards avoided.

A cafe is an environment which has its risks, such a boiling drinks and hot soups being served and staff must be able to manoeuvre easily and safely when carrying these items, otherwise serious accidents could happen. As the last thing we would want to do is jeopardise safety of any of our customers, we took the decision to ask people with large buggies, to leave the base element outside on an area of the pavement which we duly rent from the Council to accommodate these.

Many people enjoy the environment at Syon, and we would like this to continue without their enjoyment and safety being compromised by cumbersome bases causing an obstruction and potential hazard.

Most of our "new Mums" do use common sense and detach baby in situ from a buggy base. It would appear that you are misguided or vindictive in your statement that we do not welcome new mums and babies, this is not the case.

A cafe is not a crèche facility. As business owners we take responsibility for our staff and customers safety and ability to enjoy Syon. The majority of our "new mum" customers appreciate and consider this rather than putting only their needs and desires first.

Syon is for the enjoyment of ALL our customers, not just a select few. We pride ourselves on having created an environment where all are welcome and others needs are respected, young or old.

“Good little independent cafe/coffee place.”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

Very pleasant, fairly priced, well constructed menu and excellent feel to the whole operation. Only been once but if we were back close by in need of a pit stop or snack meal we would come in again.

“Friendly and Upmarket”
Reviewed May 12, 2013 via mobile

Situated in the midst of a couple of short parades of independent shops, the Syon Cafe has a good location for passing trade, but listening to people around me, has clearly gathered a loyal following. Dropped in here for breakfast and was very impressed. The ethos seems to be simple tasty food using high quality fresh ingredients. I had an Americano (Kimbo coffee, which I've never come across before but will look for now!), scrambled eggs with bacon on toasted ciabatta. They also brought a bottle of Isleworth's Finest (tap water) to the table as a matter of course. Staff are friendly and genuine - I ordered a coffee for a friend who was joining me and when she was delayed they came and took it away and replaced it when she arrived without charging for it. Inside it is quite small but rather than feeling cramped it makes it seem friendly and there is a small outside seating area which was being well used on a sunny morning. Judging by how busy it was, it is obviously what Isleworth has been needing for some time.
