Stayed here one night before long flight to USA. Smart, comfortable, spotlessly clean, polite and helpful staff. First time in a hotel with a tv in the bathroom! Enormous room with a big double bed and a sofa bed that our daughter slept on. Could see the planes going over T5 but not hear them. Checked out in the morning, a porter got an airport trolley for us in reception and we wandered over to T5. We left our car in their underground car park & were given a smart ticket so when we got back we didn't have to go to reception, we just took the lift down to the car park and drove away. Could not have been easier.

I was recently in the UK for business and decided to stay the Sofitel as it is connected to Terminal 5 of Heathrow - a quick walk from the terminal (all covered). This was a welcome relief as I had just gotten off an 11 hour flight from the US and the last thing I wanted to deal with was securing transportation to an unknown hotel outside the airport somewhere.

First, the hotel itself and staff were superb. Probably the very best hotel I have ever stayed in. The room was excellent - bed was very comfortable, good tv, very clean. The location was very good as I was able to walk back to Terminal 5 ( <5 minutes) and catch
the Underground into London for some sightseeing.

What I didn't like about the hotel was the limited options for dining. The hotel has two restaurants but both were pricey and I really just wanted to grab something and eat in my room rather sit down. Another ding was wireless internet was not included in the room cost (the other places I stayed in the UK did not have free wireless either so maybe this is a UK thing so I shouldn't ding the hotel for this). The two calls I made to my wife (about 16 minutes total) were 70 pounds (about 110 US) - the pricing was posted in the room, I actually noticed it after the fact (so again, I can't really ding them for this either). For dining, I just went back to Terminal 5 and grabbed some sandwiches from Marks & Spencer - took them to my room and that did the trick.

Overall, great hotel. Just be aware of the cost and you will be fine. I would stay again if ever in the UK but now know what to do and not to do.

Will definitely stay here again when staying for only a day or two in London. Even paying the GBP 32 return for Hearhrow Express makes this better value than saying in the West End

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of the August bank holiday. We have previously stayed at the Sofitel Gatwick which is run by the same company, Arora, so decided to book a club room for the extras that were included.

Checkin was swift and we were upgraded to a mini-suite (sofa area that could be used as a sofa bed) We were in block 6, as close a you can get to the runway threshold with fantastic views with zero noise from the arrivals and departures.

The bed was the usual sofitel my-bed (the primary reason for staying here compared to the Hilton or off airport hotel). There was a mini-fridge stocked with soft drinks (complimentary to club and suite rooms) The bathroom had a seperate tub and shower, something which the owners had obviously bought over from their Crawley based hotel with very similar design plus a TV in the wall.

We visited the club lounge for the afternoon tea service which was terrible. There is supposed to be cakes made by the chef from the Roux restaurant next door. It actually consisted of flapjack which was dry and not worth the visit down to the lounge. They did however have a Nespresso machine on tap a great plus.

In the evening we visited the lounge to see what was on offer. There was a limited self service bar of soft drinks, beers and spirits. The canapes and tasters that were advertised were not around, the only snacks available were some olives, salami slices and nuts (see picture) A bit dissapointed we asked a member of staff who appeared ten minutes later and she arranged for a taster plate from the adjacent Roux restaurant to be bought to us. One arrived about ten minutes later so we had to ask for another one as well. We also asked if there was any tomatoe juice to make a Bloody Mary, she disappeared for 10 minutes again before reappearing with a huge Bloody Mary obviously made from the adjacent bar.

The taster plate was excellent with Fois Gras, Smoked Salmon and a tomatoe tartare. Tempting enough to eat at the restaurant. The service was excellent and the food brilliant with two courses plus drink coming in at around £85 which for the location and quality was good.

Back to the room to settle in for the night with a quick bath then bed before being woken by the door bell and a knock on the door at 1am from room service!! Something which really didn't go down well and meant I spent most of the rest of the night trying to settle back down.

The following morning as it was a Saturday the club lounge does not serve breakfast so you can eat in the main restaurant which offered a wide variety of english and continental products.

All in all a good stay, may well stay again but would have to consider if we would stay in a club room as the extra was really not worth it and when comparing it to the exceutive lounge offering at the Hilton way below it.

It is however convenient for T5, but then again so is the Hilton with it's free shuttle direct to departures.

If the price is right then I may well stay again in a standard room but would question the value of the club rooms and suites.

Handy LHR Terminal 5 hotel comfortable for a night before you fly out of Heathrow. Rooms were comfy, fairly clean and had everything you need for a few hours - breakfast was excellent tho and set us up for the day ahead, and most staff were friendly and professional. Cheaper hotels are available but you are paying for the on airport location, although you wouldnt really know as it was very quiet in the rooms as most look inwards to an internal covered courtyard.
