“Superb hotel!”
Reviewed August 29, 2010

I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions for business purposes. The hotel itself is very impressive! Its very large, very modern & very stylish & the staff are extremely helpful & attentive. Its an excellent hotel if you are flying out of terminal 5 as there is a covered link directly into the terminal.
Parking is secure & quite reasonable (make sure you get the discounted hotel rate).
My only criticism of this hotel is the Vivre restaurant. The service was ok but the lady who served us was very edgy with a bit of an attitude! We had to send back one starter & one main course (both involving overcooked fish!) & the side dish of spinach was cooked really poorly! This was dealt with OK at the time but then we were ignored. No offer of desserts or coffee! On checking out the next day we had been charged for the items that were returned to the kitchen which didn't impress me but was dealt with very well by the hotel receptionist. Next time I will try the other restaurant!
All in all a good place to stay but quite expensive!

Stayed here for one night prior to connecting to a flight. Hotel is styled nicely, and it attached to the airport so you don't have to go outside - it's just a 5 minute walk from T5. Good comfortable rooms, nice bathroom, updated modern style. Two negative things: 1) the restaurant (cant remember the name...but not the French bistro one) is a shambles. 20 minutes to get acknowledged after being seated, the busboys were being waiters, the waiters were being busboys, I ordered a bottle of wine and it took another 15 minutes to show up. Whoever manages this place is doing a very poor job. Food was decent when it arrived. If the tip hadn't been included, as it is in Europe, I wouldn't have left one. 2) THe front desk, and apparently all of Sofitel, can't input frequent flyer miles for Continental or American Airlines. So you either don't get them or have to go through the process of mailing in receipts after your stay, which is a huge pain. Other than that, good property.

Stayed here for one night after flying back into London from Scotland before flying out early the next day for New York. Was not expecting to much from an airport hotel even if it was a Sofitel. Was pleasantly suprised.
Check in was to be expected in an airport hotel in the early hours of the evening, chaotic and people and luggage everywhere.

Arrived in our spacious standard room and luggage delivered, cannot recall the chaps name but he was exceptional, unloaded our many cases and explained the room facilities etc.

Good size bathroom, standard Sofitel products and also the wonderful Sofitel beds. Quick shower and change and down to the bar for drinks and quick bar snack before early night.

Bar nice and bright, bar food comes from the main restaurant and was good quality and reasonably priced as was drinks, good service.

No free internet, check out next morning quick and efficient. Hotel organises a car for you to the airport and quoted standard fee, but after arriving at the airport the driver argued about this (we had paid on a voucher at the hotel) and insisted on an extra 10 GBP as he had a big boot for our luggage (we had not asked for this and in fact the cab we got from the terminal to the hotel managed to fit our luggage in his normal boot), as we were heading to the USA we did not have 10GBP on us so gave him the 4GBP we had but we were not happy about the extra charge and the hotel needs to look at this.
You cannot book your own cabs, the hotel insist on doing this and then they use a car service. The left a bad taste in our mouth.
Would we stay at the Hotel again on our way through - yes but would bring up the issues of the driver asking and insisting on the extra money.

I have travelled in and out of Heathrow for 20 years and stayed at many of the Heathrow located hotels. The Sofitel is the newest hotel being attached to Terminal 5. The hotel is just so much better than anything else located around Heathrow. It is modern, very clean, has great facilities, walking distance to T5 etc

The food is a bit expensive but if you want a quick snack nip over the walkway to Terminal 5 and grab a sandwich in Marks and Spencers.

I only ever stay at the Sofitel LHR these days. It is without question the best hotel in Heathrow.

Stayed there in July 2010 for one night. Since it's located right outside terminal 5, you cannot beat this location for an overnight stay or if you are doing business in the Heathrow/Hounslow area and need a nice hotel for a short stay. I had a connecting flight early the next morning so it made sense to stay there since I was arriving into Heathrow at 7pm the previous evening. The hotel is smart and clean - what you would expect from a Sofitel brand I guess. This was my first time at a Sofitel property.

The rooms are neat, clean, and modern - all that you would expect. The check in was a bit slow but since it's the only decent hotel within walking distance to Terminal 5, it's naturally busy. Plus, there is a direct walkway to the terminal and you can go there and grab a bite or buy some food/groceries so you don't need to rely on the hotel outlets. That's what I did.

The only issue I had was that the morning of my checkout the fuse blew in my room so I had to have a bath in darkness! Housekeeping could not solve the issue and as a result they compensated me by giving me 30 pounds off the bill - which really did not make any difference to me since I was on a business trip. But that was their service recovery gesture and something is better than nothing. So apart from rushing to get ready for an early morning flight in a dark room, the hotel experience was fine.

Stayed for one night prior to flying. Nothing was too much trouble. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bar and restaurant served great food and and drink request catered for in the bar. Rooms are comfortable, beds and linen exceed expectation. Only gripe very high charges for wireless internet. Should be included in a 5 star hotel.

We had a night in London in between flights both coming into and leaving from T5 at Heathrow. Had dinner plans in central London with family and took the Heathrow Express to/from Paddington Station. The hotel is connected to the terminal and you can walk there with your luggage cart from the arrivals hall at Heathrow Terminal 5. The same is true when catching a flight out of Heathrow T5. The Heathrow Express is a very short ride into the center of the city. As we were coming out of Customs we were approached by a gentleman selling half price tickets on the train which made it a relative bargain for the 4 of us.

The hotel is luxurious and very quiet and comfortable. It is a bit pricey compared to others in the area but well worth the cost when you factor in the convenience and time savings. I would highly recommend the Sofitel to anyone needing an overnight stay at Heathrow, but the fact that you can also quickly jump into London for a few hours makes it that much more special.
