Premier Inn London Heathrow Airport (Bath Road) Hotel
Ranked #3 of 22 Hotels in Hounslow
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed September 25, 2012

This visit to the Premier Inn Bath Road got off to a poor start when we arrived at 8pm and were told that one of our two reservations had been cancelled! This led to annoying 15 minute, internal , inquest by the hotel who finally provided a room – but without explaining how they’d messed up.

Adding insult to injury they then allocated my family of 4 two rooms at diametrically opposite ends of the (large) hotel meaning we had to communicate with the kids by phone to arrange to meet!

Administrative blunders aside this remains a good choice of overnight hotel at Heathrow. The combination of low cost, onsite parking option and reasonable location make it hard to beat. This is about the fifth time we’ve stayed here. Last year we tried the Radisson Edwardian (still a contender) but this time the logic of using the Premier Inn won out.

Firstly, cost is compelling. A twin room at £39 and a second twin with 15 days parking for £109.This isn’t as cheap as the more distant, Heathrow Central Travelodge at £19 but , on balance, it’s a better package.
Secondly the rooms are reasonably well appointed – not far short of what many 4 star hotels currently offer. Configurations include double and twin and you can squeeze one under 16 in a room for free. TV channel choice is good, tea and coffee maker is convenient and bathrooms are bright and modern.

The hotel also benefits from a decent atmosphere in the atrium. It has the buzz of a place where everyone is excited about their forthcoming holiday. It’s a bit like a departure lounge – perhaps they should have a Duty Free shop. There are plenty of options for food and drink – more than you’d ever expect at a budget price. There is a bar area with a wide range of beers and wines and a bar menu. They often show big screen sports events projected onto the walls of the atrium area. There’s a more expensive restaurant plus a Costa coffee bar. Additionally there are vending machines. One way or another you should find something to fit your budget – which is important since there are no other eateries within reasonable walking distance.

Breakfast here is also a plus. When we’ve stayed elsewhere we’ve often stopped in for the buffet breakfast (about £8.50). A nice, long, lazy breakfast is a good way to start the holiday and there’s a good choice here in a comfortable setting.

The Park and Fly option is also good. You can park in the hotel car park. Ideally I’d prefer to park off-site and get a free shuttle to the terminals but out of season there’s usually plenty of space on-site. I’m not sure about the new pay and display arrangement. I didn’t get any kind of parking pass. I assume the on-site parking attendant checks car numbers against the hotels database of paying customers. On return I just drove out without the reassurance of having my final charges checked.

Finally, one of the benefits of staying here is the relative proximity of the Heathrow Free Transport Zone. Rather than paying over the odds for a not-too-frequent Hopper service you can walk for 10 mins towards Harlington Corner (the next bus stop which is visible from the Premier Inn). At that point all buses going into the airport are free and are far more frequent than the Hopper. This assumes that you are prepared to walk for ½ a mile (and, eventuially, back again). On a sunny day it’s pleasant, even with wheeled luggage. On a wet day you could catch a red bus immediately outside the hotel or a taxi. Either would probably work out better than the Hopper for a family.

Room Tip: Make use of tehnearby Heathrow Free Transport Zone to cut transfer costs.

Stayed at the Premier Inn,Heathrow Airport the night before and the night after our holiday in Switzerland.
We had arranged to park at the hotel while away which worked extremely well as the shuttle bus to the airport started from the car park so hardly any ferrying luggage about.
We had booked the advertised 'meal deal' so had an excellent 3 course dinner on arrival at 7.30pm and a sumptious breakfast at 5.30am the next morning.Perfect before an early morning flight.
The staff could not have been more helpful to my disabled husband and me and were prepared to put themselves out on our behalf. Our 'accessable room' was made up with a double and a single bed,on the ground floor and quiet! Could have been in the country.
When we returned, very late, after a ten day holiday the car was readily available and we drove home refreshed after a good night's sleep and another sumptious breakfast ! ! !

Having spent time reading the reviews for all the hotels in the same area decided to book this Premier and well, so pleased I did because I can't really fault it. Yes, space in the car park is at a premium and does cost £10 for 24 hours but the hotel is pretty new and much larger than most others in this chain of hotels. When we arrived it was very busily checking in delayed departure passengers from a well known airline and we rescued/greeted by a receptionist who kindly took us to the high tech booking system and booked us in - she could not have been more helpful or more welcoming - well done Premier. I booked two rooms; a twin and a double both at the same very reasonable price. The twin had two double beds in it and everything we needed - great bathroom, tea and coffee, t.v., phone etc. and beautifully clean. The double was great too. The hotel is very quiet and you wouldn't know you were next to Heathrow. We had an excellent, reasonably priced meal in the restaurant and the service again was first rate. Up at 4 a.m. to take our friends to the airport for their flight on the Hotel Hopa H6 bus run by National Express which picked up at the back entrance and was on time (we were provided with a timetable by the hotel). One bus goes to Terminal 1 and 3 and the other Terminal 4 and 5 and tickets are £4.50 per person single trip. Our trip took about 20 minutes and dropped us at departures. We had a coffee at the airport, said our goodbyes and then got the Hotel Hopa bus back from bus stop 18 and had great breakfast at the hotel before checking out. There are about 12 different Hotel Hopa buses covering a couple of hotels each so they are pretty efficient and speedy. There is also a long term parking place right next to the hotel should you need it. Have stayed previously at the most expensive hotel at Terminal 5 which was a great experience but, on reflection, this Premier hotel today (at a third of the price) gave it a good run for it's money!

Room Tip: A twin room today gave us two double beds on the first floor.

A large well kept building very near Terminal 1 Heathrow and easy to find after leaving J3 of the M4. Check in went smoothly in a large airy reception after parking the car at the rear of the building. Our room was large with bed and sofa, all the usual amenities of bathing products, hair dryer, tea and coffee, safe etc. Our room was runway facing but with the triple glazing we didn't hear a thing.
The 24hour Wifii charge was minimal compared to some other hotels but we do think in this day and age it should be included in the price of the room as most people find it useful nowadays. This charge included using Wifi in the lobby too.
We had an evening meal in the restaurant there and the choices were very good. The wait after ordering was a bit long as staff seemed very thin on the ground but when the food arrived it was worth waiting for. The mixed grill was plentiful, well cooked and well presented and the surf and turf was delicious. All prices were average and we felt we had very good value for money.
ALL staff were pleasant and helpful and check out was easy. We didn't partake of breakfast as we had to leave early and take the car to long term parking and we chose Purple Parking Business as it was right next door.
All in all a pleasant experience with no complaints and would be happy to recommend and use again.

Who would have thought you could get a great sleep at the airport hotels? This hotel has surpassed my expectations. Staff were so attentive and good at their work! The food was really great and well organised. Meals were specially made for our group and demonstrated a real desire to nourish the guests. It was my first stop at a premier inn and I hope this is the standard of all!

Expected the Premier Inn at Heathrow to be less impressive than this place is for the price. Normally cheaper hotels around Heathrow are a little shabby and don't block out the aircraft noise, but this was not, and well worth the stay and we got a very good nights sleep.

I know it's standard Prem Inn fare, but it's great quality for the price, with welcome extras in the lobby, namely a decent bar/restaurant and a real Costa coffee shop. Had we known, we'd have arrived earlier so we could have made good use of the facilities.

Recommend this hotel, especially on a Holiday extras parking deal.

Room Tip: Get a room looking the outside courtyard, not outside of the building, or looking over the lobby.
