“Village pub with a warm welcome in suburban London”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

I've been coming to this pub with family for quite a few years. It sits next to a village cricket field, is genuinely old world with unpretentious home cooked food and excellent ales. The management are always friendly and the you so not have to wait long for the food. There are guest real ales, espresso coffees and a real 'local' feel that makes this pub a treasure.

“would have been excellent but the toilets were a disgrace”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

An unplanned visit as an alternative to driving into the country to find a pub

Pub,garden, staff and food all more than acceptable but a trip to the toilet generated a discussion in which the 6 of us all agreed

The toilets were smelly and very grimy. Not just a case of too many people that day.

Grime and dirt everywhere. Shape up owners/manager

“Enjoyable”
Reviewed August 24, 2013 via mobile

In the summer its a good pub with out door table n chairs. Winter I find strange its small bars where everyone knows everyone and strangers are welcome once the locals have given you the once over

“The case revisited..”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

I used to go here in my youth as it was a very picturesque, traditional pub steeped in history.
In that respect not a lot has changed which is a good thing, pleasant setting acroos from the cricket club.
We had lunch which was good can recommend the Beef chilli nachos (great for a main too) greek salad and advocado & holumi salad.
Would prefer homemade chips however great value for money.
Service was good too.
There was a lot of ash on the floor so it needed a good sweep and cleaning of the ashtrays.
Bought back good memories and will go back again.

“Pub lunch”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

A country pub that's not in the country. Hadn't been there for ages but been twice recently and had pretty reasonable pub grub. Decent selection of beer.

Particularly nice in the summer.
