“Perfect for our family celebration break!”
Reviewed July 12, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We had a great family break at Ravenhill. It was private and perfect for a family with small children as safe and enclosed.

The house was lovely with plenty of space for us all. The children loved the garden and the toys available. It was in a great location, private but close enough to the places we wanted to visit. Sledmere House and the coast were the places we explored.

There was nothing we didn't like about the property the only things we would suggest in the future was modernising the decor but this did not affect our stay in any way.

Mark was very accommodating in providing an extra put up bed for our toddler at a small and acceptable charge to us. He was very helpful with the requests we made prior to arriving.

We would totally recommend this for excellent value for money and the privacy but space we needed for our family weekend and celebrations.

Thank you!!

My family stayed here for a week recently and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Mrs Savile and her family were helpful prior to our stay and welcoming on arrival - they even had a basket of tea, coffee, fresh eggs, milk, juice and cookies waiting on us which was a lovely surprise!

The cottage itself is large, well equipped (everything from cleaning products and candles to toys and books), comfortable and clean. The rooms are a good size and little touches like fresh flowers, cushions and ornaments make it feel like a home rather than just a holiday rental. The garden is the real attraction - secluded, private, very peaceful and huge. The owners have considered everything that you would need and have a swing set, patio furniture, drying line, summer house etc. Our children spent a lot of time hiding in the woods, watching birds at the feeders and playing outside. We didn't use the games room at the farm but walked up to visit the cows and sheep.

As a base we found the cottage was ideally situated for visiting the surrounding area and there is information/ leaflets in the cottage which was really helpful- a small shop, swing park and a few restaurants a mile or so down the road in Kilham, supermarkets and garages and restaurants/ take aways in Driffield 10 mins away, Flamingoland 50 mins away, York's (park and ride) 30 mins, beaches and attractions in Scarborough, Bridlington and Filey all within a short drive. There's a nice children's attraction on the way to Bridlington ( Park Rose).

We have already recommended the cottage to friends and hope to visit again next time we visit Yorkshire. Why stay in noisy, cramped caravan parks for the same price when you can have space, fresh air and beautiful scenery on your doorstep??!
