Went to record some WW2 defences, but also saw some dating from WW1. Have been many times over the years, and delighted to see so many sports being enjoyed, as well as dog friendly. New cafe is great, with sea views. Great for families, sports fanatics, dog walkers and archaeologists and historians. Good views along the coast.

We were staying nearby and decided just to have a look at the beach. There was no traffic on the lane down to the beach and we were quite surprised that when we got to the car park, that there were quite a few cars there already - most of whom were taking their dogs for a walk. The fee for car parking was £3, but we really just wanted to have a quick look rather than stay all day and the warden said we could put £1 in the 'honesty box', which we did. We had a quick walk along the beach and were fascinated by the sand martins making their nests in the sandy cliffs. There was a very attractive new-looking cafe by the car park, and which although it looked very good, we had just had breakfast. Perhaps we will try it next time we visit.

The only disappointment was the fact that on the notice by the car park it stated that the sea water was polluted!

Fraisthorpe beach is a gem on the East Riding coastline. Located just south of Bridlington, it is just a 3/4 hour walk along a flat sandy beach to the southern promenade and amenities. The farm charges £3 to park a car, but get there early and it's £1 in an honesty box. It is also very historic. There are gun placements and anti tank blocks from WW2 scattered along the beach. The other gem is the Cowshed cafe. A beautiful building, elegantly refurbished. There is a no children and dog area with nice couches. The rest of the area allows dogs and children. There is seating outside. The food range is limited, but a good standard. It is a must if you haven't taken a picnic. We will go back time and again.

Spotted this new cafe/tea room while walking our dog on Fraisthorpe beach. Lovely new modern building with a terrace & garden. Casual menu offering typical lunchtime meals including panini's, quiche & jacket potatoes. We decided to try the 'hen house' burger, the mushroom & blue cheese panini & the broccoli & Stilton soup. The food was all freshly cooked & generous portions. They also sell Pipers Crisps which are without doubt the best in the world!!! We couldn't resist trying a 'Kelly's of Cornwall' ice cream to finish although all the cakes & scones were very tempting. I predict this little gem is going to be a huge success!!!
