we stayed one night in what was a small double and it was as described, the rooms and dining room are nicely decorated.the downside was the thickness of the walls as the next room were very noisy maybe we were unfortunate to have a young couple in the next room.the breakfast was very good one problem was finding somewhere to eat in bridlington after 7 on an evening lucky wetherspoons is just down the road

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at the Glen Alan, the small double is as it states, we do however have standard doubles which are larger or Deluxe doubles which are much bigger and have a seating area. Sorry you found the walls a bit thin between the two rooms, there is actually a bathroom which also devides the two rooms? (maybe they were just extra noisy guest's lol). I was surpised you could not find anywhere to eat, we have lots of eating places including, Masala (Indian restaurant), Yips (Chinese), Marco Polo (Italian) Beneficio's (Italian), Leoz (Turkish/English), Naked Fish (Seafood) plus lots more, we now have a "Places to Eat in Bridlington" leaflet, should you return we can issue you with one of these. Thank you once again for your review and we look forward to meeting you again. Kind Regards Brenda & Paul

Convenient location to walk into Bridlington and to walk along the promenade if it had not been so windy! Had a lovely break with the highlight being the lovely breakfast choices. Comfy bed.
Plan to visit Bridlington again when the weather is better so we can complete the coastal walk to Flamborough Head.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper ask for a room not facing the road

The hotel is in a good location for most things,a 15 minute walk would get you to the harbour and town center. The owners were very friendly and accommodating, nothing was to much trouble. A nice bottle of red wine was waiting for us on arrival along with a box of chocolates which was appreciated. Breakfast was very good with a good selection available. Plenty of places close by for evening meals and entertainment also.

Stayed just for one night whilst visiting family in Bridlington. From the moment we arrived you were made to feel welcome. Brenda greeted us and quickly went through the formalities before showing us to our well appointed room. As we had taken our grandson with us we had the family room which was very large and comfortable with all the little add ons you could possibly need.
After a very comfortable nights sleep we entered the very cosy breakfast room which was excellently layed out. Fresh fruit, cereals, fruit juice etc was there to help yourself. A very varied breakfast menu was available with so much choice. Brenda took our order and Paul also appeared from the kitchen to welcome us. The food was cooked to perfection with also plenty of toast, preserves and tea.
After our hearty breakfast we were ready for our journey home and all agreed that when we visit Bridlington again there is only one place to stay if you want first class service in a fine Hotel (Guest House) it has to be the Glen Alan.

Bridlington in February may not be everyone's cup of tea but we have just stayed here for a couple of nights as a base for coastal walking and enjoyed it very much.
The Glen Alan is run by a very friendly couple who clearly take their business seriously and approach the tedious sales and marketing side effectively.
The location of the hotel was ideal for access to the promenade and all other facilities and amenities. The outside of the property matched the photos and was of a good standard, showing no signs of decay. We were met and made to feel very welcome by Paul and Brenda who quickly and efficiently signed us in and showed us to our room. They gave us clear information and made us feel we could ask for help at any time if needed. Although we were taking advantage of a midweek voucher scheme, we were in no way made to feel second rate.
The room was large, clean, warm with a safe, TV, tea and coffee facilities, mini bar and en suite shower and toilet. The bed was BIG and had a very good mattress for a good night's sleep.I really appreciated the good quality towels and was made to feel quite pampered by the provision of complimentary Dressing gowns and slippers.
This hotel is not an ultra modern boutique experience .. this is a classic example of the Victorian Seaside B&B and a very comfortable and well appointed example it is. Those of you who are charmed by the faded Victoriana of East Coast seaside towns will really appreciate the superior feel to the Glen Alan. Mention should also be made of the extra effort and touches made by Brenda in e.g. provision of a Feminine Supplies Box in the dressing table. You could turn up here with your spare pants and toothbrush and be well looked after.
We wanted a good start to the day to face the weather and the coastal walking and we were not disappointed ... The Breakfast at the Glen Alan has won awards and rightly so. Put simply the combination of cereals, fruit, fruit juice and Full English is the best I have experienced and deserves an award. Good quality ingredients well cooked and washed down with decent tea or coffee .. what could be better? My only complaint was that I would then have prefered a snooze rather than a coastal walk! but there was always the opportunity to relax in the well appointed communal lounge for a while to recover before beginning your day.
I suspect that Bridlington, with its own charms, may well be a poor neighbour at times to Scarborough and Whitby but The Glen Alan in Bridlington is a perfect base for the seaside and as a base for further exploration of the East Coast.
In summary I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to friends, family and anyone else who needs a break at the traditional British Seaside.
