Thank you for your kind review; they are important to us.
I'm glad you enjoyed your gluten-free meal, we able to do this as all our meals are cooked to order and once informed a customer has an allergy, we are happy to accommodate their needs. Our wonderful chips are cooked in a separate pan from the battered fish so they are not a problem!
Best wishes and thanks again,
Patrick

“Wonderful Fish Restaurant”
Reviewed August 24, 2014 via mobile

Really friendly, lively service and a very good range of fresh fish cooked to perfection. The mushy peas were delicious and the tea hot and strong. As good as fish and chops can be i.e very good indeed.

We took a take away and the lemon sole was excellent and the chips how chips should be ... chunky!! Very friendly and helpful when we asked about the different fish available and were told that it was the local catch that was served!!!

I am so pleased you enjoyed the lemon sole from the take-away, it truly is a delicate delight!
Maybe next time you might like to try the skate, seabass or halibut, all delicious.
Thanks again and best wishes,
Patrick

“restaurant,cafe or takeaway”
Reviewed August 21, 2014

We looked on the website and trip advisor and decided to go try it before we left Bridlington because it got very good reviews. I rang on a Sunday lunch time to book at table at 4pm and was told 3.30 would be better so we turned up at 330 and what we found wasn't at all what I expected a handful of tables downstairs with a takeaway and a seated area upstairs but with nobody in it, the menu on line seemed to indicate it was more a restaurant than a takaway / café. only 1 other table occupied downstairs so we sat downstairs but my husband was looking at the fryer...I had already decided I was having fish n chips so when the waitress gave us the menu I was happy to see the fish n chips special at £14 for 2 people as I was expecting to pay £9.95 as per the internet but the prices are out of date its now £10.95 and the place on first impressions did not warrant a fish and chips at over £10.00, we ordered a child's sausage meal and was told they had ran out of sausage the day before so ordered fish finger and chips and the waitress did stress its not a birds eye fish finger....
The food was very nice the fish and its batter beautiful not to heavy or soggy and a nice large piece with a nice amount of chips and fabulous mushy peas which were the star of the show, the child's meal was equally good with 2 large pieces of battered fish.
The food is good but it needs to understand its place is it a restaurant or just another takeaway/café?? Maybe next time we go (as we will probably go again) it will be a little fuller and we may get to eat upstairs which may make it feel a bit like a higher end place to eat in Bridlington which the internet hinted towards

Thank you for taking the time to post a review and I am really glad you enjoyed your meal, especially the batter!
As regards your question of what we are, well, I think we would like to describe ourselves as all three!
A restaurant - certainly. You visited us on a Sunday, seldom a busy day for us. Had you visited the previous night, you would have found our upstairs area full of people enjoying top-quality local fish served simply and deliciously, accompanied by fine fine in a pleasant atmosphere.
A cafe - well, yes again, weekday lunchtimes will find us serving our top-quality fish and chips with tea and bread and butter at very reasonable prices.
A take away - certainly. We offer an amazing variety of local fish (seabass, skate, sea trout, scallops etc) to take away.
I hope you do visit us again and enjoy our lovely food,
Thanks again ,
Patrick
