Excellent choice of food served promptly in spite of Bank Holiday and delicious. Food was excellent and artistically presented with a generous portion. Staff couldn't be more helpful throughout. Pleasant Snd attractive gardens and flower pots adequate to a floating Wedding venue.

Great riverside location. Room 12 is a superior double with good riverside views but is in serious need of refurbishment and basic maintenance. Shower control handle broken and replaced with a long bolt, shower temperature either scalding or freezing; phone out of order; toilet flush "ineffectual", rotten window frame; poor lighting and squeaky floorboards. It could be so much better with some basic improvements. Superior room #12 is therefore poor value at £110 single occupancy - avoid

Dear Mr_MrsB_12

Thank you very much indeed for your recent review. It is of course disappointing to receive feedback of this nature. Whilst we are in a process of modernising and refurbishing our rooms we do expect at the least to get the basics right. I am sorry that this wasn't the case on this occasion and we will address these matters (some of which have been completed) as a matter of urgency.

I do hope that this does not deter you from staying again in our wonderful riverside setting and should I be of any further assistance in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at laurencewall@theswanatstreatley.com.

Very best regards,

Laurence Wall

My wife and I spent last weekend at this lovely hotel. The location is brilliant. Right on the bank of the River Thames. It really is an idyllic location. We stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms and there were a few minor maintenance and housekeeping issues, which stopped me from giving this hotel 5 stars. However, these were easily made up for by the food which was absolutely gorgeous! Try the Baked Alaska! It was so good that we both had it both nights!
I would highly recommend this hotel. Yes there is room for improvement. But the management realise this and are striving to improve on the small things that would make this venue perfect and, are very willing to listen. Certainly worth a visit.

As I was attending a conference at the hotel, decided to make a long weekend of it with wife and dog....The hotel is beautifully situated by the river, and handy for both Goring and Streatley. One of the appealing features for us was the fact that the hotel is dog friendly - no specific doggy facilities, but just allows dogs to stay...The hotel inside is comfortable, and the public areas and restaurant very nice. Our room (Room 1) was nice enough, but could do with a freshening up of the decor. As we had the dog with us, we chose to eat in our room rather than in the restaurant - fair to say there was a reasonable choice of snacks, starters and main courses, and our meals were very good. Although not listed on the room service menu the hotel were happy to serve deserts from the restaurant menu, and our choice of dessert turned out to be just about the best dessert I have had anywhere ! Breakfast has a god choice and was generous and tasty. All in all a very good weekend's stay. To be critical, the meal timings in the room guide were not up to date, but we mentioned this at reception and they said they would sort this out, and for a dog friendly room, the space at the bottom of our balcony railing was a bit wide - out small dog could easily have fallen though. Overall good value and I expect we will be returning for another stay.

Room tip: Rooms with balconies overlooking river are nice, but railings not suited to small dogs (or children either I suspect).

The public rooms are a delight and the staff really pleasant and helpful. The food and restaurant were a joy with exceptional food and service. We stayed from 22nd to 27th Feb as part of a package and the generous allowance for dinner was a real delight. we stayed in 52 which overlooked the car park which wasn't a problem. a slight problem was no window to open apart from the doors which meant that overnight it was too cold or too hot. A word of warning the hot water was exceedingly hot and could have resulted in burns to young people.
