“All sizzle and no sausage”
Reviewed December 15, 2012

We have lived in crowthorne for over 8 years. Chillies is our nearest Indian and we eat curry either home made or bought at least 3 times a week.
We have eaten at chillies no more than 5 times.
As it had reopened after a refurb following a fire we felt it worth re visiting.
2 adults 2 children (8 and 6) pops , 5 main dishes 3 beers, tarka d and 2rice over £90!

I have taken 20 people out to the tamarind for less than that a head.

Curries were well defined and presented all was looking good but were very 1 dimensional, no flair and did not hold up to the spice level advertised. our children could happily eat all the curries despite 2 being 'highly spiced' . heat is not everything but expextations were set. Seems they enjoy being opposite Wellington college and assume they can milk the local population.
All in all they need to seriously raise their game in order to expect return custom.
Mains £8-15.
This is not the cinnamon club!

“Reopened but still the same”
Reviewed November 22, 2012 via mobile

Overpriced with mediocre and too suble flavoured foods. The vegetable curry was exceptionally milf. Noisy with little atmosphere and waiters who just butt in on conversations. At £30 a head for one course With a beer, i would expect much better. Look elsewhere would be advisable as there are better restaurants in the area

“Wow! We missed this restaurant!”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

Chillies, right opposite the station in Crowthorne, has re-opened after a long refurbishment due to fire in the flats above.

The Indian restaurant was a regular favourite of ours before it closed, so it was great to go back and try it out again. New staff and slightly different decor but the food is just as good - if not better than ever!

We had Lamb Rogan Josh, Mushroom Biryani, Sag Aloo Paneer and Peshawari Naan. All were cooked and presented beautifully. A pistachio kalfi finished off the meal a treat. Drinks were reasonably priced and the entire meal was under £50 for two of us. We can’t wait to go back again with friends and family.

“SHOCKING! They charge £8 for the dips with your poppadums”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

What a shocking experience - We ordered some Poppadums did not ask for the dips... dips were never mentioned but they were put on our table anyway. I have never ever paid for these dips ever in any other indian restauraunt. There were about 8 of us at the table, six were eating Poppadums, when the bill came they had charged us a Pound a head for everyone at the table for dip. They were rude and had VERY VERY poor customer service when questioned about this.. Cheeky, keep an eye on your bill.
