I visit this place quite a bit as live in Leeds and am not too far away. It is so lovely. When people are trying to buy local this is the place to come. It is a family owned and run establishment, which in this day and age for something so large is unusual. Everything here is quality and has real attention to detail, I find myself coming more and more just to chill out and get away from the hustle and bustle of leeds.
1.Potting Shed Cafe/bistro - 1st class service, everything from chef cooked awesome food to fresh cakes and coffee, they make their cakes inhouse each day. I had a chat with the chef and everything is made fresh each day even all the bread and the salad dressing. This visit I had seabass risotto and then a victoria spounge cake and latte to follow. Plenty of tables, sofa's high chairs, bright clean space
2. The plant nursery - staff always so helpful and know their stuff, they have helped advising with many difficult areas of my garden, very cheap too as they grow most of their own stuff too. Its a lot larger than one expects, they have 5 huge greenhouses for growing things. A large shop area and loads of outdoor area's just nice for a little wander and see the plants growing even if you're not into gardening.
3. womenswear clothes shop - this is owned and run by one of the daughters, 2 floors of lush things to choose from, idea for gifts too as have scalves, hats, jewerley etc. This is in the impressive chimney building bit, my husband likes taking photos of this bit!
4. Card shop - the best card selection this side of leeds!! I believe the owner mum chooses the cards for her, all I can say is she has very good taste! She has a vintage cabinet with lots of plates, table wear, tea sets and bits in too.
5. Gift/homewarm shop, ideal for small gifts, so much in here, the old roof inside is worth a look even if you're not interested in shopping
Lots of other things too, childrens shop, hair dresser, beautican, an old walk way, picnic bench etc
Their is free parking,I park right at the top of the third car park and take the dog for a walk i have left my car here for a few hours and its ok, and then pop in for a coffee, dogs are allowed in the bottom area of the Potting Shed Cafe. Sadie was really muddy the other day and they did not mind a bit, were just pleased of my business and to see me again
They are developing a couple more of their farm barns, not sure what they will house yet but will be exciting to see.
Well done to the family for creating such a beautiful place, with the solid sold I'm sure it will be here for 100's more years if not 1000's
woops just seen how much I've been rambling on! - I hope it is helpful for visitors.
