If you want to pick up bits and bobs for your home or even large items of furniture, this place is for you, full of old style trinkets and antiques, you will always be able to find something in your price range as it is wall to wall with stuff! As long as you're willing to rummage. The railway centre is somewhat unused now but there are often specialist markets with knowledgeable folk there :) Great day out!

The Heritage Centre occupies the site of the former National Coal Board workshops, all the buildings are now split up into various businesses selling all ranges of goods, craftware and the like.there are places to eat but i have not tried any of them,a childrens nursery/day care centre and antique sales. The antique centre occupies the main former workshop a very large building that as been redeveloped into two floor levels with numerous dealers using the facility ,worth a visit. There are some Steam Engines,Diesel engines, some carriages and rolling stock but the track they run on is only about a mile in length. The car park is free and quite large, across from this is Elsecar Park close by is Elsecar Reservour, and near the entrance to the centre is The Market Inn Pub,some buildings still require restoration but all in all in is not a bad day out,try it.

For auction days (the fabulous British Bottle Rallies are held here) and special antique fair or steam train day events you need to look up dates on the website, but for a general visit you can pretty much turn up any day and enjoy the antiques centre and various craft outlets at the centre.
It's quite an extensive area and has a good basic lunch/tea cafe on site.
Well worth a visit - or indeed a regular visit!
