I live 5 minutes from this attraction and I cant believe I havent been before! I took my boys age 3 and 5 for a halloween special with "the bug lady" so not only did they get to hide in the hides, trip trap over bridges and peer into ponds, they also met stick insects and giant snails! The playground is very good with plenty to do and we are planning to go back in the summer to try pond dipping (free for rspb members or small charge otherwise to hire the equipment). Staff were very friendly and great with the kids. Only criticism would be that the cafe is quite small and was completely full when we wanted to eat. Think that was only because of the halloween activities though, and there are other places to eat within a 5 minute walk. Will definately be back

Although this is an RSPB reserve with an emphasis on birds, it is also a great place for anyone who appreciates nature and interesting scenery. The staff are on hand to help identify flora and fauna, and there is lots of information in the visitor centre. There is also a shop selling gifts, books and birdfood/feeders, and a cafe selling food for the visitors too. There are activities arranged for children and it is a good place for a family day out. It is free for RSPB members, there is a charge of £4 for non members (adults) (I think children get in free with adults)

Hello Roseananne,

Thank you so much for a lovely review. I'm really pleased you had such a good time with us and your comments are very much appreciated. I just wanted to correct one small point. You mention that children may get into the reserve for free. This is partially true, under 5's do get in for free but entry for older children is £2.00 or they can be part of a family ticket which is £8. All RSPB members get in free.

Thank you again for your comments and we look forward to welcoming you at RSPB Old Moor again.

Liane Holdsworth, Visitor Experience Officer, RSPB Old Moor.
